For the first time ever, St. Louis is playing host to a pre-broadway tryout for a new musical based on the film The Karate Kid. The show will be playing at the new Kirkwood Performing Arts Center for one month starting May 25th. In this second installment series, we get a peek inside the auditions and the rehearsal hall.

Having found out about this musical before getting into the Karate Kid during quarantine, I was curious to know how this would work. So far, it doesn’t look bad.

@@robdog4062 I’m 29 and I hate to say yes. Don’t get me wrong I’ve been a fan of 80’s pop culture since middle school. But since it’s found a new sense of relevance during this time, better late then never

Saw the show 3 times. AMAZING! The choreography is beyond anything I’ve ever seen. The imagery and symbolism created by the “Spirts” is gorgeous. Can’t wait to see it grow into a Broadway Smash.
