It’s a variation on the DADGAD tuning. TesseracT and Monuments use a very similar tuning. The biggest advantage I’ve noticed is you can make chords sound way fuller and it opens up opportunities for some unique sounds being that you’re dropping the last 3 strings. Each string has an open octave too so you can introduce the same riff anywhere. The main thing I’m using the tuning for is to bring a minor 2nd closer to where I’m playing. If you notice in the breakdown I am playing a 4 on the G string and an open on the B instead of needing to make that big stretch on top of that main riff.
@@RyanMFreeman This is really helpful - I just ordered my first 7 string. I understand some of what you're saying, but would love to see you demonstrate some of this stuff in a video if you ever have time to get around to it. I'll subscribe either way 🤘
@@douchecraft3113 I’m glad! I appreciate the support! Also, I’m more than happy to make a video on it. Or maybe a short, either way! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions. I’m happy to share what I know!
Awesome tone and sick riffs! Damn! I am torned between Misha Mansoor Juggernaut HT7 and the Schecter Sunest 7. I can notably say that Schecter has the upperhand 'cause of the stainless steel frets plus the 27' scale neck. Will you possibly help me on which one should I chose? Thanks!
While I don't necessarily have any first-hand experience with the Mansoor Juggernaut, I can say that the Sunset 7's pickups are med output (at least this model was) so you'll have to do some more tweaking in your amp/amp sim to get a nice chunky tone. Not super hard to get it there, but it is something to be aware of compared to the Juggernaut. Afaik the Juggernaut's come with some pretty beefy pickups. Hopefully that helps a little!
@@RyanMFreeman They were noisy/microphonic in my Exotic wood SVSS and the neck pickup was too dark for my liking. I've got mine at my local shop getting the duncan Alpha/Omega set put in and having the tone knob removed and a simple 3 way pickup toggle installed instead of the 5 way selector. The actual voicing and tone of the bridge pickup is totally fine but simply can't handle the high gain stage volume like my other guitars with duncan and surh pickups.
@@FastRedPonyCarThat’s fair. I’ve had a similar mileage w/ mine. Great pickups for stock, in-house, however I’m definitely going to throw a set of Bareknuckle pups in there eventually.
@@RyanMFreemani ordered it and it should be here in a week, thomann released a b stock version for 200 euro less so it was 1k euro to order from germany to croatia, it was the only b stock one so im glad i yoinked it
I just got my first 6 string electric and im already looking into this thing as my future 7 string lmao. my wallet is not liking this new hobby of mine :)
