These comments remind me why CBC News locks their comment sections. Some of these people claim to love Canada, but can't help devolving into being rude, bigoted, and nonsensical to anything they disagree with (aka anything left of alt-right).

I don't recognize the turban style he wears: growing up in BC it was always the peaked ones. When he wears red or pink it looks like a pencil eraser.

I am sure that the guy wearing the turban is very uncomfortable. One can only wear a turban comfortably if he has a habit of wearing it, the firt few times your ears will pain like hell, but then you will like it.

Christian guilt complex. These people are not Sikhs as in the religion. They are followers of a terrorist madman and despotic tyrant who called himself Sant Jarnail Singh Brindranwale. Like him they were born into Sikhism the religion. Brindranwale a peasant who suffered delusions of grandeur tried to carve out a religious empire out of the state of Punjab where most of India's Sikhs live. The Pakistani president at the time a very clever and cunning General by the name of Zia Ul Haq emboldened by the very generous largess of the Reagan Administration who funded his Intelligence Service the ISI (Inter Service Intelligence Service) of Pakistan and gave them a very free hand to explore opportunities in the region saw an opportunity to bloody India's nose and break it up as payback for India's breaking up of then East Pakistan into today's Bangladesh . The Soviets were in Afghanistan at this time of Brindranwale's madness and the Pakistanis were tasked with bleeding the Soviets through a protracted guerrilla war run by Afghan refugees under the command of General Zia himself. India had not long before humiliated the Pakistanis in Bangladesh and cut its land size down by half. Zia wanted revenge and saw the disgruntled Sikhs who followed Brindranwale as an opportunity and leverage to bleed the Indians and keep them occupied whilst they the Paks prosecuted the war against the Soviets in Afghanistan. India being Soviet ally, Zia feared the Indians would retake Kashmir whilst the Pakistanis were mired in the Afghan war on behalf of the US. Brindranwale broke every law of god and man in the Punjab and tried to create a breakaway state he called Khalistan (land of the pure). A land for Sikhs only. They slaughtered Hindus in the state, raped and pillaged, collected tithes (protection money) and butchered Sikhs who would not follow Brindranwale. He Brindranwale was a brute and a crude savage. Eventually the man who dressed like Jagmeet and preached peace and co existence exactly as Jagmeet does in Canada, took over the Golden Temple. The Temple is Sikhdom's most revered and scared shrine. He then turned the Temple complex into a fortress for a military campaign against the Indian state. Brindranwale and his guerrillas were clandestinely funded and armed by the US (William Casey) via the Pakistani ISI. Brindranwale and his thugs turned the place into a den of thieves, a military fortification, a den for kidnapped Sikhs, soldiers and policemen and their families who he used as human shields whilst Pakistan supplied him and his followers with an arsenal of weapons. It was Zia's finest moment as he was a brilliant soldier. He had a martial race of Indians turned against their own state. Not all Sikhs were on his side. Those were not were brutally murdered, maimed, their wives and daughters raped by this coterie of "Noblemen" like Jagmeet. Prime Minister Indira Gandhi warned Brindranwale and his followers to lay down their arms and leave the temple and surrender. The carnage continued. Their defence continued. Indira Gandhi was heavily criticised by moderate and rationally minded Sikhs she was being too lenient. Soldiers and policemen who were Sikhs were treated the worst of all by Brindranwale and condemned as traitors before being mutilated and threwn out into the streets as an example to other Sikhs who did not join Brindranwale. The Punjab and its Sikhs were torn down the middle. In or about June that year in 1984 Mrs. Gandhi India's prime minister decided it was time to act and ordered the troops into the Temple. They underestimated the strength and size of the fortification of the place by the terrorists. Holes had been drilled into the walls, the wntire place was fortified with mines and booby traps and gun turrets where God was mean to reside in the Parikrama, the tabernacle of Sikhism. There were newly built and illegal structures in the centuries old Temple to create machine gun turrets, weapons on the one hand whilst women many Hindu, others Sikhs littered the place, their dignity already sacrificed on the alter of a Sikh holy war. That was their role. To service these renegades. Slaves literally slaves (Khar Sevaks) and armed men were also some willingly others held captive were encamped in the fortified Golden Temple to serve the would be martyrs in there. It was a Sikh General of the Indian army, General Brar, who volunteered to liberate the Temple leading the assault to flush out the terrorists which resulted in heavy casualties on both sides. The Indian troops prevailed at the end and rumours began to circulate amongst a mainly peasant population in the Punjab. Rumours and gossip spread like wild fire that "The Indian troops could not kill Brindranwale. He was a true saint who floated over the walls through a curtain of machine gun fire and had gone into hiding safely" to the more ridiculous "All Sikh women are being raped by Hindu soldiers". In India it is not uncommon to add a communal element to every story for effect because it is a society built along communal lines in its "diversity" that Canada seems to want to emulate today. A guerrilla war ensued not long after which Mrs. Gandhi herself was murdered by two Sikh bodyguards both trained for the task in Pakistan. India's intelligence bureau was asleep at the wheel it wold seem. The carnage that followed (the killing of Sikhs in Delhi) was organized by over zealous Congress Party thugs who thought such violence would endear them to Rajiv Gandhi Indira's son and successor. The killings in Delhi was unjustified and unreleting till they were brought under control by the Indian government using the more impartial border security force who replaced the mainly Hindu Delhi police. The killings unfortunately for Jagmeet were not an act of "genocide" a term Jagmeet abuses to gain support Sikh terrorists in pursuit of their secessionist movement calling for the separatist state of Khalistan in India. Canadians who buy that rhetoric being peddled by Sikh terrorists of the Khalistan movement will eventually pay for it the way they did encouraging the Tamil Tigers movement who bled Canada during the Sri Lankan civil war. Not content with their guerrilla movement which waged war in Punjab and as far south as Pune in India, the Sikhs blew up an Air India Airliner that left Canada for India killing over 350 people aboard that flight. They also placed a bomb on board an Air Canada flight which landed safely in Tokyo. Former police counter insurgency chief and ardent hockey player KPS Gill, a Sikh himself, was called upon together with Robeiro another veteran of the police force to quell the terrorist led insurgency of Jagmeets supporters in the Punjab and elsewhere. It was brutal and unconventional. Many men and women died unnecessarily in that war but in the end the terrorists were subdued and prosperity returned to the Punjab. Jagmeet and those naive enough amongst Canada's white community are playing with fire by electing a man whose objects have little to do with making a better Canada. He wants to destroy India and supports a secessionist movement which will have consequences for India Canada relations and turn Canada into a Taleban hideout as Pakistan became playing host to an external threat imported by their hosts into their homes in good faith. Jagmeet and his family have contributed over C$20,000 towards the terrorist movement the Khalistani movement. Call centres run out of Mumbai and Delhi are financed by Sikh separatists from places like Canada to run scams against people in the west. It funds their wars against the Indians and their political stunts abusing the generosity of the Canadians. They use non Sikhs just like the Tamils used no Tamil speakers to do their dirty work for them. Sikhs who wear the bright yellow turban and the black turbans run taxi sub license rackets in western countries paying 10% towards the war that Brindranwale started in an attempt to create a Sikh (sick) theocracy in the Punjab Margaret Thatcher whose own intelligence service assisted the Indians to quell the Sikh terrorist separatist campaigns in India called them ' Low life scum and terrorists"".
