This scene is part of an HRN series that celebrates victories for the cause of universal rights. Schindler's List is the true story of Oskar Schindler, a German humanitarian hero who saved the lives of over 1,000 Jews during the Second World War. One of the many tragic realities of this dark era is the fact that there were few successful efforts to rescue victims of the Nazi Holocaust. For example, most concentration camps were only liberated at the very end of the war. For this reason, Oskar Schindler is rightly honored as the most famous of the "Righteous Gentiles" for his inspiring example of courage, compassion and love for humanity. The film is directed and produced by Steven Spielberg and stars Liam Neeson, Ben Kingsley, Ralph Fiennes, Caroline Goodall, Jonathan Sagall and Embeth Davidtz.
