Schlage FE595 Keypad Entry Lock Install on my Garage

The garage door lock has been needing an upgrade for years now! I finally got a Schlage FE595 keypad entry lock to install and make life a little easier. Here's how to install it and how it works, thank you for watching!

I would suggest installing longer screws through the strike to go into the Jack and king stud as the small screws in to the trim could be kicked in very easily with only the trim holding the strike in place 3-4 inch screws would help a lot

Thanks for the very informative video. BTW, the levers are installed upside down. The curve of the levers should curve upwards into the palm of the hand for better comfort and grip. If you switch the inside and outside levers they will be oriented the correct way according to Schlage.

Access Control could also have been a good idea, so you can use tags instead of codes to access you garage, or with access control you can also make it so you need to present a tag and enter a code for more security

Is the tapered door latch depended on how the door opens? I see yours swings open inside (pull to open). Mine swings open outside (push to open).

You should seriously think about adding a deadbolt also use decking screws to install the plates cause it’s a lot harder to kick in

I would be worried for my fire alarm collection to Grant because if I lost all my fire alarms because somebody broke in or I left the door unlocked “if I had a big fire alarm collection” and I lost all those alarms I would be sad.
