Great picking and gutting. Very interesting movements of the sidebar pins. Fantastic lock and video.

Thanks Mike! It's really interesting how all these manufacturers have come up with ways to code a sidebar.

That was awesome picking. I have no idea on how to rotate and manipulate those side bars. Great job on the gutting. I have to get me one

Thanks Bobby! I still feel like I have a long way to go with learning to pick Primus. There is a real trick to the pin rotation that I have yet to really get down. They sure are fun though!

Wow, very disappointed in this lock not having any security pins, what a joke. Have they improved it since this video? Great job 👍🏻

Are you familiar with the ASSA Max+ ? Would you say this is Less, Same or More Secure than a Schlage Primus? Thanks

Nice, I always wanted to pick my Primus but never did. Great work.

Thanks Hux! I'm not sure which keyway you have, but for this one I really struggled with coming up with a tool that I liked. In the end, I found that I almost needed a knife edge on the front part of the flag to sneak up under the finger pins. Once I got them pre-lifted a little, I could more easily manipulate them, but getting them up off the floor was a real trick. Always happy to share photos of the tool if you think it might help.

Really impressed with your picking skills on these locks! You make look so easy too... And I Love That your video`s features so many high security and hard to get locks!! On the prices for the locks, in the comments. I think you guys have had a bargain. Living in Norway I see a ton of Assa`s, and Trioving`s (now also Assa) and for a new Assa Twin f.ex. Is around 50 to 100% more than you paid (very roughly calculating)

Which pick did you use when picking the side pins?? Thank you for the video
@tumbl3r
@tumbl3r 3 года назад
It was a pick that I made specifically for the side pins. It was based on a simple flag design for dimple picks, but much of the material was ground away. I did eventually measure it and publish the spec here: www.reddit.com/r/lockpicking/comments/9wkntv/primus_sidebar_finger_pin_manipulation_tool_spec/

Any tips for the finger pins? My first Primus comes in a few days!

Once you find one that is binding, I found it most useful to do a lifting / turning motion on it until it sets.As you push and pull on the little pin extension, the pin kind of naturally lifts. Keep doing this back and fourth pushing and pulling method until the pin goes loose. Then you'll know it's set.

I emailed you about the Primus with the Dom pics u requested and also the pics of my ASSA twin combi so you could give me ur opinions on its key bitting. lemme know if u didn't receive it or if the pics got messed up. Thanx again I've learned so much ab the twin I actually feel like I might be able to pick it 😁😁👌👍

Its all the adrenaline im guessing. Thats why your hands shake. Your brain releasing all those hormones from the excitement of picking a high security lock. My hands shook really bad when I picked my first few locks.

Yep... That's it. I know I'm challenging myself when my hands shake. Having the camera on ramps up the tension even more, LOL.

I just bought one from the same guy on ebay. except I got a rim cylinder. now I just need a few assa
@tumbl3r
@tumbl3r 8 лет назад
Did you get a reasonable deal? I feel like I paid a bit too much, but locks have been going up on Ebay lately. What can you do? The "Large Lot Locks" section of Security Snobs is a good place to pick up ASSA Twin 6000's. That's where I got mine. Their prices are very good, but shipping is high.
@dalton3231
@dalton3231 8 лет назад
+tumbl3r umm it wasn't a terrible deal. it was 55$ and I had a 10$ off coupon from ebay so it ended up being 45 and he said he would pin it to a more radical bitting for me. the coupon and him offering to pin it i couldnt pass it up.why I even. snobs is cheap until you get to shipping. that's why I didn't get my BiAxial from them, plus having to pay for 7$ per key. I'm pretty sure the assa comes with at least 1 key. unless I find it somewhere else I'll get it from them. I haven't can't find many places selling assa locks
@tumbl3r
@tumbl3r 8 лет назад
55$ is about what I paid. Not a terrible deal. I really enjoyed working with that lock, so in the end, I think it's a good buy. The Medies coming out of security snobs are hit or miss. I think they have them all parted out and build them up as needed. I've bought several from them, and I can say that most run smoothly. A few do snag and hang up at times though. Also, you make a very fair point about the key price. The ASSA Twins (at least when I bought mine) come with one key each. All the sidebar codes seem to be the same, but the pinning is different and HEAVILY mastered! Given the retail price on those, I think they are a pretty good deal, even with the shipping costs.

Hi there, impressive picking skills! Question, where can I get a table vise like yours?
@tumbl3r

Harbor Freight sells them. They are called a Vacuum vVce

Thanks! Videos are funny in that they only show the finished product. It was far more trouble that I thought it would be to learn how to manipulate those side pins.

It's the handle that comes with the SouthOrd PXD dimple lock pick set.

What does the "CP" stamp on the key mean? The Primus key issued to me by my workplace has it as well.
@tumbl3r
@tumbl3r 7 лет назад
From what I understand it's a restricted keyway indication.
@KarenNakamura1

CP= Schlage standard six pin C keyway (often called SC4) with Primus sidebar.
@michaelwilliams5506
@michaelwilliams5506 6 лет назад
Karen Nakamura correct the sc4 is the blank for a 6 pin C schlage c keyway. sc1 is the 5 pin version. there are a ton of keyways. at work we have c, e, ce, f, ef, c123, c145, and a couple xp variants of the above, all in primus

No drill protection whatsoever in a Primus.
@tumbl3r
@tumbl3r 7 лет назад
Well, the pins are steel, so you could count that. I don't think you'd be able to drill out those sidebar finger pins very easily.
@mynock250
@mynock250 7 лет назад
tumbl3r Didn't know they were steel, thought they were nickel. It's a good lock but some anti-drill protection in the core at the price point they charge would be nice.
