„real“ hunting with horses was banned in Germany in 1936. Since then they lay a scent-trail for the dogs to follow. This has the added bonus of being able to plan the track ahead of time, so that all the land-owners know where the fields will be crossed, the watchers know when and where to expect the riders and any jumps can be prepared in a way that they are safe and that there are ways around them for riders that don‘t want to jump.
for the horses and riders it‘s mainly a group chase and the dogs follow the scent the same way they would have once followed a fox. In the end they receive meat as a treat (cow’s stomach actually).
@@avian8338 using the inverted commas mainly as what they are doing is still called hunting, which means it is also a real hunt. However it differs from what we generally understand hunting to be since there is no live animal they are tracking. So I‘m stylizing the real in reference to your asking whether it‘s a simulation.
