Don't buy any of Mussini oils, they use damar varnish in their paints and also sunflower oil which is very bad idea to use in oil painting because both would discolor fast and make paint film weak.

I Use Oil colors to paint miniatures, wich is a bit different from classic Cnvas Painting. I have read that due to the Dammar resin the mussini range has a tad more stiffness than the norma range. is this true?

I've been using Schmincke Mussini now exclusively since 1995. Since I use glazes, a little goes a long way, which reduces my over all cost (in fact, I am STILL using the same tubes I bought twenty-three years ago!). Of the three choices it is of middling to high cost, yet it is a premium quality paint that rivals Old Holland. (If you want a more opaque paint, I would highly recommend Schmincke's premium Norma brand of oils.) Old Holland is the most expensive of the three and is extremely stiff straight from the tube. undoubtedly, part of that cost is the label and the cachet that it carries. However, the quality is very high and if you plan to reduce the paint with mediums, you'll get even better mileage from Old Holland than Schmincke Mussini. If you use impasto techniques extensively and you want to paint with Old Holland, either inherit a fortune or else file for bankruptcy - it's way too expensive for most artists. Winsor & Newton is of decent, reliable quality and it has the lowest cost compared to the former three brands. If you are just starting to experiment with oils and cost is an issue, I would choose W&N.

Pretty much this whole video was just about Mussini oils, what about Norma which is mentioned in the title? Do you have any more detail about their exact composition or their transparency compared to mussini, or how the colours compare? Not really much in this video except an artist who doesn't know how to pronounce turqoise, but obviously got paid to endorse your products.

Dear Ryan, this clip is about our two finest artists oil colours, the features of both are mentioned but as MUSSINI has outstanding properties and many people ask us what is so special about MUSSINI, this film mentions the add ons of this resin oil colours and explains the effects of the resin inside mre detailed. Our Norma is a high end pure oil colour, for further information you can look here: www.schmincke.de/en/products/oil-colours/norma-professional.html About the pronounciation: turquoise comes from French and the pronounciation is correct. Suzi as a British artist works with these colours since she studied art and knows very well not only the colours but also the names. Maybe there are other pronounciations in other places i the world, but this way is totally correct! Best regards!
