The XW Pro solar hybrid inverter is the heart of your home power system, connecting solar and battery storage with the grid for backup power and energy security. It can be used for solar and storage, or backup power systems without solar.
When paired with Schneider Electric XW Pro inverters, the Backup Control Switch (BCS) automatically disconnects from the grid during an outage, allowing the system to provide backup power to the home. Some people are very intellight, great leaders and bring excellent ideas to fruition. Some people are good on camera and communicate complicated ideas well, in terms the layperson can understand. These are not always the same people.

I bought the Trace SW4024 back in 2000, and ran it until 2019, 120v only on my house. In 2019 I bought a 2005 Xantrex SW+5548, again 120v only. Loved both of them. Started with the 24v Trace and used the Xantrex to move up to a 48v battery system. Then in 2022 bought the XW Pro from SS, to finally move to a 240v AC system. I had been using the MPPT 60 (4 of them) since 2019 as well. Love this beast. I have been putting in AC foundation to support set of 2 XW Pro's someday (bigger wires, breakers, etc). Won't be going to a 3 set for this house. While I have grid, I use it for assist backup Nov to March, as from April to October, I do not need the grid - fully supported by solar then. Good to understand more about the BCS from this video. If I move to a bigger house, I will consider it. Again the XW Pro is a beast,. Thank you for the educational videos on your products

My main takeaway from this video: Schneider XW Pro 6.8kW Hybrid Inverter 1) DOES NOT have Solar MPPT's, it is just a backup power solution using batteries Charge/Discharge. 2) Can not be connected to grid directly without a Schneider BCS that cost an additional 2000$ (Requirement by utility companies) 3) This setup is in competition with the 200A rated 5500$ EG4 18kW and 8000$ SolArk 30kW. But Schneider XW Pro 6.8kW Hybrid Inverter will still trip less during a normal household.

XW pro can be connected to grid without the BCS. You need a fused disconnect on the AC input line per utility requirement.

Impressive test at 15:45. I'm looking for an off-grid system to run my water booster pumps. High amperage and the all pumps starting at once this looks like it will work.

I really like the Schneider and would love to install it in my home but I'm still not sure I am following how the different pieces work together. I'd like to understand that before buying... I'm gonna have to watch this a few times.

I promise you if you buy one you won't regret it Schneider inverters are awesome. I will be test out the new BCS I have already ran over 20 kW load for extended period of time with my Dual stacked XW Pros. I can imagine it will be much better with the BCS

A great video. Thanks. Here's an idea for consideration. With high current devices like clothes dryers and ovens, it would make sense to add a load management voltage/current regulator (think a light dimmer but with a 50A rating) to drop the voltage to the appliance which in turn will drop the current draw. It could even be used for some AC compressors. That will help keep the total load on the inverter down when needed. Because these appliances are often rated at 208/230 (or 208/240) they can easily handle the reduced voltage and that will drop the current consumption by about 25%. Of course, it will take a little longer to complete the task, e.g. longer to heat the oven or clothes dryer to temperature so it doesn't help the battery charge much, if at all. It will however help keep the inverter from being overloaded. Because many new load management systems include a dedicated relay and current transformer for such loads, I'm surprised that nobody has added a current/voltage regulator. This could give an option of 100% power, 75% power or 0 power. For many appliances they can handle even lower voltages as long as there is enough to run the fan motors or starts the compressor. The voltage/current drop could be adjustable, using the CT to monitor the current and provide feedback to the voltage regulator to keep the current at the desired level. This can provide full power to a high priority appliance (the oven when preparing dinner), and reduced power to another (the clothes dryer), or run an oven at full power for several minutes and then drop it to accommodate the inverter's overload rating(s). You did such a great job on this video, how about doing another video on the new Schneider inverter that is shown on the Schneider Pulse brochure?

Great job on this video guys and thanks for the explanations. The XW sure seems like a rock solid inverter. Can the BCS completely stop grid sell with that Wattnode? I’m not allow to sell to grid but want to backup all I can.

You can do it without the BCS but the BCS should do it much better.

On the DIYsolarforum a lot of Schneider owners have been unable to fix the xw pro leaking power back to the grid when it is not supposed to. Since last year Schneider hasn't fixed this. Some have said their smart meter reports this back to their utility company and without having authorization to feedback to the grid it could cause them problems. Is there a fix being worked on? Many DON'T want to feedback to grid but DO want to use grid power as a supplement or backup.

Is it possible to add a link on the your site for installers who are familiar with installing Schneider inverters and EG4 battery systems..? That would be extremely helpful and make it a lot easier to find someone. I live in southern New Mexico, have a 12.4 KW Enphase grid connected system, and am planning on adding a battery backup. I might have to go with whatever the installer I find has experience with.

The videos I've seen in which they turn on this inverter all have audible 60-cycle hum constantly. Is this the case for this inverter even when it's not outputting power?

Great video! The BCS is only required if more than 3 XW Pro's are stacked, but is recommened on stacking 2 XW's. The MID relay in the BCS is 200A make/break rated and completely bypasses the internal relays on the XW AC relay board. It prevents relay arcing and relay malfunction when stacking inverters. Relays bounce 3-4 times before they close permanently and the 1st relay that "makes" gets the full load of all stacked inverters. Same on opening: the last relay to "break" gets the full disconnect current on all stacked units. My only complaint is that the BCS does not have the capabilities of a FranklinWH aGate MID panel, imho the best MID 200A panel on the market today, unfortunately you can only use it whith the full FranklinWH backup solution.

can this run mini splt s units 4 ton or 5 ton at 3kw/4kw/5kw - fulltime 24/7 and not crash / or a couple of single units a 1.5/2kw and last 24/7

Great inverter but you need their separate charge controller and BCS to get that functionality. So it's not really a $3500 inverter, darn it...

7:06 so you are saying that the inverter doesn't care how much load you put on one leg (or how unbalanced the load is) as long as the two legs total out at 6.8 kw ? If so that is a great way to power a whole home panel because you would not need to worry about balancing so many various 120v loads.

Yes It will screw in place of the display, But unfortunately schneider stopped selling the scp.

@@beckfordelectrical All the functions of the SCP work great with the xw6848 pro. There are just some advanced programming that has to be done with insight home.
