Hauntingly beautiful. Powerfully glorious. Shatteringly gorgeous. What a grand entrance for a great soul to be received after the illusion of death, the false conception that life ends. This Requiem gives hint of that reception into Glory.

This movement returns to the beginning melodic figure...a great to way tie all the amazing stuff we just heard, into one complete piece. Wow...I was so moved by this piece.

When I first heard the credo I thought that the drum set was added by some fancy frill-type editing though I have come to enjoy the use of it in the credo, on that note why not add a radical saxophone solo in the credo?

I love Schnittke, and I love this wole Requiem. My only wish was that he had left out that stupid drum set part in the credo....

The drum solo works for me. It primed me to listen closer for other unique sounds... and it was like an injection of extra dimensions. Just as the tone of the movement, overall, is aggressive and miserable, the drum solo reminded me of the misery of contemporary pop (and how we're all influenced by pop culture, even if only negatively), AND it adds straightforward aggression.

I thought the drum set part was brilliant. Schnittke's genius is in taking old stuff and mixing with the new. He is like the sampler/combiner of ALL things. Like a chef that combines seemingly opposite ingredients that seem at odds with each other, but magically combines them to make a delicious feast.

That was easily the greatest part of the whole requiem.
