Great jacket, I did look at it before and is nice to see it in a video instead of just pictures. It seems a very similar concept to the Spes AP Light jacket (removable padding in the shoulders, ribs/sides and front) which is the one I'm probably go for.
One question that I would have concerning this jacket, doesn't really concern the jacket, but rather those plates. If I purchased one of those jackets and tried to modify the plates, but cut away too much materiel, would I be able to purchase replacement plates?
From the looks of the plates you might be able to make new ones yourself from the foam floor mats that you can buy at the hardware store. They can be cut with a good exacto and shaped with a heat gun, people use them to make costume armor all the time.
This definitely got my intention, but unfortunately, I only get to spar in tournaments where there are Newton rated jackets allowed only. So until this one gets a Newton rating I can't buy - unfortunately.
Sorry, I probably was a bit unclear about it, but what I meant was the Scholar Jacket (hemasupplies.com/product/scholar-jacket/). What I (and many other people probably) want is a 800 N certified jacket. In most competitions I've been to you ran into problems if you didn't have such certifications. Broken blades are everyones horror.
Now that's a cool jacket. And just some viewer advice, I would have liked to hear him able to talk a bit more. I felt like you hogged just a tad too much :P
Those venturing into London should buy one of these.... it seems they are very similar to gambesons, that would protect against stabbing attacks, and it looks good. I like the scholar jacket.
One question, most places I have only seen HEMA jackets up to XL.. Now.. as I am not a small dude I need one a bit bigger.. anyone knows a good product in europe that will do that job?
SPES makes jackets to size, neyman fencing also does that. As for spes, custom size jacket is tad more expensive than standard, dont remember how it's with neyman. Both are good, but heard that neyman can have problems with delivering on time, but from my experiance, their jackets fit better :D
As much as I like the new intro audio file, my new rescue dog hates any type of bell. Let me put this into context: from kid's bike bells to church bells, they all send Zod into a highly anxious state, your intro is no exception. I was going to inform you when I first heard that abomination (I'm at odds attempting to discern what use bells are in our modern age!), as the previous swish though 'old' was far more preferable imdo (in my dubious opinion) haha
Don’t buy this jacket, mine failed completely within months. I made a warranty claim, it was denied and hema supplies threatened to share my personal data.
I normally wear the SPES officer and it is utterly different. There are some jackets which look a bit like this jacket, but the SPES Officer is not one of those!
