In this video we show the siding, bed frame and insulation, getting the Bus ready to Party.
We also measure the windows and seal and paint the parts that won't function as such.
We stain and prepare the wood for siding, insulate the porch doors, seal what we don't need to open and deal with the many irregularities and asymmetries of the bus.
The bed frame was built with 100% recycled wood from Ethan's pile and it functions as storage. We show you how we did it.
We also explain how we installed the ceiling lights.

Grind Hard Plumbing Co We actually have a ‘53 GMC that’s been in the family three generations, so it’s not as much of a conversion as a “wow this is gross let’s rip it all out and redo it with modern stuff” sorta deal. It’s got a straight six that’s froze up after sitting outside for ten or so years, so we’re thinking either big block for just simple power, or go diesel and convert to an oil burning setup. I’ve made a couple posts about it on Reddit but here’s an imgur album of pictures. It should be awesome, but It’ll be a sinkhole for cash forsure! imgur.com/a/yabI7s3

Dude, the bus is looking brilliant! I love the stained, visible wood grain aesthetic. It really gives the space a warm, cozy, and inviting vibe. The sooner it’s finished, the faster you’ll be able to just kick back, and watch Moab sunsets from the drawbridge deck. (Airbnb? :)

In our big bus we have the master bed in the very back and we use the back door as an access door for the storage I built under the bed. I would like to have cut the door in a way that it would only open to the storage area... Idea for another time perhaps. Ah.... I forgot to say that your bus has turned out great!!! Definitely keep us up to date on any modifications you make to your current layout and what you would or would not have done differently. And that rope swinging footage is sick!!! Won't catch me doing it.

Put some hinges on the plywood of the bed at the rear wall. To keep it from shifting in travel. Then add some 3 inch blocks.The placement will depend where the Automotive or screen door gas shocks go this will aid in lifting the plywood and mattress. A short bit of broom handle can be used as a prop when open if the shock can't support the weight. They will help open it though

I had a bus very similar to yours. It was stolen from be before I had a chance to finish it. Bought an RV later only to have it burn to the ground. Now I am preparing my van to hit the road. It will be outfitted with GPS tracking and many fire extinguishers.

Did you consider putting some cabinets/shelves in the upper corner between wall and sealing? That's how it's done in most caravans to get some aditional storage. Greetings from Germany, nice project and well done!

Use some hydraulic assist rams to lift the bed, gas struts like you find on a suv hatch! make it easy to lift and it will support its self once opened!

For the bed some gas pistons (strong arms) would come in handy to help lift the bed, usually find some cheap at that auto parts store, just a thought.

So how are you fastening everything to the walls? Just glue or is there a second inner skin your screwing into?

I had a similar question... I just purchased a similar bus and the inner later is a board covered with a honey comb looking material. It's about 3/4" thick in most places.(besides the joints) I was told I could just use 1/2" screws to install a ceiling. I was wondering if I need insulation also? And then do I need to install rafters? (This will significantly lower the height of the ceiling)or will the thick honey comb material provide enough insulation along with the vinyl ceiling? Lol so much to think about! Lol

Hey, bud ! What tool did you use to remove the metal rails at 1:25?! I ripped the subfloor up yesterday and am eyeballing those rails and noticed that a drill won’t do it as there is no insert on the hardware for any tool that I’m familiar with....

Awesome job. I have the same bus. So I see you didn’t frame. If I’m correct you insulated then screwed wood on top of the insulation? I guess framing isn’t really necessary. Less work for me lol
