@@ventaliq funny story about Burquens and how they are: Two boys were standing at a bus stop leaning towards the road. They saw me heading towards them on a one-way street. They looked the other way (i dont know why since its a one-way street), then looked at me, then looked the other way again and right when i was a few feet of them, they ran onto the road. I slammed my breaks. (and caused damaged) The closest boy's eyes widened then his face wrinkled up like an old man accepting his fate. My car stopped about 10 feet from him, he snapped out of it and judt trotted of with his friend like nothing happened....that's the typical mindset of a Burque....maybe too much sun, 4700 feet elevation causing lack of oxygen to the brain, under aged drinking and drug taking, and while pregnant. A good mixer of all that. 🤷‍♂️

Yeah , this happens every single time in every street race in the city. 6 months ago 2 people were killed by the same action.

@@earopooptubeofkpoca i'm not a "street racer" but i do compete in motocross in a semi-pro league and can tell you THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A RACE IF IT IS ON THE STREET, you know why? Thats bcause you need a RACE TRACK, to have a race, the streets are NOT made for that.

I didn't see the vehicle that hit the vehicle mom and I were in I had my eyes closed the whole time the major casualty was the vehicle that hit us literally tore his car up to the radiator and made us do a 180 to the other side of the road a blind spot because of the stupid idiots who put cones not far enough away that you could see either way literally trucks could barely see over and around them so imagine what a low to the ground vehicle was like though honestly he should have gotten the ticket as he hit the backside of our vehicle it ended up with a broken axle as for human casualty mom had a cracked collarbone or sternum can't remember I walked away with bruises and soreness for a few weeks after that took about 2 months for me to stop having bad headaches my sinuses didn't like that I had breathe in the stuff from the airbag my face was literally covered in also a piece of the airbag hit me in the check I learned quickly when that started burning to put ice to forehead and it or else migraine like headaches couldn't walk for a few days afterwards because felt like someone was pinching the tops of my feet so hard deep bruising on both feet and caused a reaction to where I had broke my foot the other driver I have no clue but he apparently hurt his hand

They shouldn't go to prison at all.

The one kid shattered their pelvis. Thats one of the most painful injuries you can sustain... and it's a long and difficult recovery. I'd rather break both legs than break my pelvis..I partially dislocated my hip while hiking.. I can't even describe the pain. It took my breath away and I couldn't scream. I hike and climb A LOT.. so I've had injuries.. it's just part of the game.. but that pain in my pelvis was indescribable.. like nothing else I've ever been through

My cousin was a straight A's student, gifted, and had a whole future ahead of him. He was studying to become a heart surgeon. He was only 24 years old. He planned to marry his fiancee the following year. He was the pride and joy of his parent's eye. He was kind and cool but my cousin had a bad habit of racing cars with his friends on the roads. He crashed his Porsche doing street racing with some college buddies in 2003 on New year's eve. He died on impact while hitting a light pole and barreling the car into a building. His face was mangled and his spine shattered in 5 places. His car was on fire for probably 8 minutes when the fire fighters arrived. I remembered my uncle was screaming and shouting at his racing friends. And my aunt just sobbing uncontrollaby for days. And all his siblings just screaming and crying at the car racing friends too. Everyone was shocked, hurt, and angry. We did an open casket and his head was bandaged up because it was too scary to see the damage. Illegal street racing sucks. The drivers love the adrenaline rush and feeling cool.....but they don't think about their consequences when they almost killed someone or even themselves.

Because you can't get them out when it catches fire. We as a society put the responsibility to protect the children on the bus on everybody around it for this reason. There used to be seatbelts on all buses at one time. There were fires.. We still put them on small buses because they are small enough that you can get all the kids out in time. I think I read about some other reasons too.

Actually not true, the construction of busses has been safe further back than the seventies. One big safety improvement was the addition of a cage around the fuel tanks. There are built in roll bars in the passenger compartment and it has corrugated steel siding that the "Jaws of Life" have a difficult time removing. The school bus still remains one of the safest vehicles on the road. I've driven a bus for decades and have taken rescue company courses in the fire department, they are awesome vehicles.

One of the reasons why they don’t is because of accidents like this in the bus caught fire before and kids could not get out of the seatbelt. That is why the rule is sitting in your seat staying in your seat. It really sucks. Majority of the school buses across the United States are made where I live and we have asked the same question. Majority of those that make the school buses are family members or neighbors and friends so we know they will put care into the buses when it comes to fire. That’s a whole Nother subject.

Totally agree. I'm tired of hearing the old arguments of whatabout fire, whatabout water, etc. These are the exact same arguments people made before seat belts were required in cars. The fact is that with the ludicrously high speed limits compared to 30-40 years ago, children unbuckled in slow moving busses are in greater danger than ever from 70+ mph traffic around them. The risk of serious injury due to physical trauma is far greater than the off chance of a fire or submersion in water.

@@hotsoup1001 Pretty sure at that velocity and from that angle, more of the impact would be absorbed into their bodies furthering injury with a seat belt. Without it the remaining force from the impact is able to continue beyond their body and thus reduce internal damage even if their bodies fly off a bit

As a student who rides the school bus every day, each seat has 3 seatbelts, but sadly students hardly ever wear them. I for one, do wear a seatbelt and actually sit down on the bus while it is moving. It is sad that the kids in this bus crash only were injured from a lack of seatbelts, as if they were wearing them, they would most likely be fine. It just seems that most kids these days don’t care about safety. 😢

I live in Germany and we have to drive with the normal line busses, they were so overcrowded, the standing area were completely full, no safety nothing.... In a country like germany where every little thing has to get checked for safety... This is sad

Safety belts are not included on busses because they become a danger if the bus ever goes into the water, is caught in flooding, or catches fire. Young children simply do not have the same ability as adults to quickly free themselves from restraints in high stress situations. The bus frame crumpled and absorbed the impact without losing structural integrity, and rolled without collapsing. It did what it was designed to do in the safest way possible that does not rely on restraints.
