The "luxurious ass bus", or charter bus, review is pretty accurate. I had to ride on one for a total of 11 hours one day, and I don't think I would have survived that long on a normal school bus. Problem was, I was right in front of the cheerleaders the entire ride (don't ask, it's probably not what you think), so we had a bit of the plebian normal school bus element in there, but for being with a bunch of vegetables pretending to be high schoolers, it wasn't all that bad. I'm just glad I never had to use the bus to get to and from school, sounds like ass

Don't forget the sexual harassment aspect. I had a girl always choose to sit by me, despite the abundance of free space. Since we had no handicapped people on our route, I sat in the single handicap seat to avoid her. Her response was to sit on my lap for 45 minutes instead of next to me. I was in middle school and she was in high school.

At some point in high school, I legit, no joke, one day decided that I'd muster up the courage and walk home after school for the first time in my life and realized how much... better, it was. It wasn't JUST the fact that walking half an hour home (despite all the stuff in your backpack) wasn't all that bad; you could choose to just go straight home, you could stop by some store and shop or eye-shop and entertain yourself to your heart's content, reflect on your day or your future, etc. It's so much more peaceful than having to ride the bus home every single day. It doesn't help that everything you mentioned in this video is basically true. Bus rides were literally "you either fit in with these annoying gossiping kids or you don't."

I only rode the bus in high school, but it was chill for the most part. Bus driver was the same all 4 years, so I got lucky there. I graduated in 2020, but man do I miss school.

Hello, current school bus driver here. The reason you had a different bus driver some days is really because someone called off, which happens A LOT. The heaters under some of the seats have no temperature control, it is either on or off, and they get pretty hot. The kids in the back of the bus thing happens everywhere and yeah, eventually the bus driver just gives up. For me, I have written up so many kids that the school just ignores my write ups, the kids even laugh about it. So really I just make sure nobody is killing anyone else in the back and generally they do what they want. The reason busses aren't always in the same place at the end of the day is because either some driver called off and they are "doubling up a route" or there were mechanical issues, which happens a lot also. They are not supposed to release the busses from the school until someone has verified that all students made it to the bus and there isn't anyone walking around the lot, sounds like someone didn't do the job correctly. Omfg the bus sucked. Especially in middle school I got hit by a car so I had crutches. I literally got bullied for getting hit by a car. No one made room for me until the bus driver screamed at them to do so. Shout out to Mr. Steve, great guy. Anyways high school I went to a different school, got a glow up, & seemed humble when in reality I just was bullied in middle school so I didn't even realize I was attractive at all. Good stuff. It's okay cause my boyfriend & me realize we were both ugly ass nerdy weebs in middle school. But now people find us attractive & we just can't handle it. I am 18 now though graduated. Done

I started producing music during my late senior year in High school, so whenever I'm on a bus ride I'd listen to my own music. I'd much rather listen to that than everyone on the bus screaming.

As someone who always had and has to take the bus to school, I can confirm this is 100% true. It is very hard to find where your bus is at the end of the day, it’s even harder when you can’t even see the bus number through the tinted windows from far away. You have to memorize the black numbers on the yellow side of the bus, but of course substitute busses will make that useless. The school put a sign on my bus so that way it is easier to spot from afar, when the bus driver remembers to put it up it is very useful! Some kids on the bus are very loud, that’s why sitting in the front is best, however if you are one of the last people on the bus you have no choice but to sit on the back of the bus because the bus is so crowded. If you have the option to drive to school, it is probably best that you do. Bus drivers are leaving left and right and the bus drivers that remain have to drive very crowded busses. I think I was asked if I wanted to drive one of the busses once, I said no. You know they are getting desperate when they ask a STUDENT who is also almost blind if they want to apply to drive a bus.

I am on a School Bus, I sat at the back of the bus, I do agree that there are students that act like total clowns. One person was even passing down papers which every page had one pic of p**n on it, and one person in seat 23 slit the seat with a knife, YES with a KNIFE. I started sitting in the middle of the bus because there was just so much horrible stuff back there, I couldn't comprehend what everything went on while I was back there. EDIT as of 2/20/23: The back of the bus has started to chill down quite a bit over the past few months, ever since those kids got kicked out of the bus due to shenanigans, it's been calmer back there and I can finally sit back there again not having to worry about those incidents that have happened. As someone that took the bus through all 12 grades let me tell you it’s was hell. When I was 6 to 10 I took the buss with my older sister we went to the same school so through grades 1 to 6 I had to sit with my sister and deal with a buss full of older kids and I constantly got picked on so did my sister and I was too young to understand but my sister was a hell of a sister for standing up for me everyday. Once I got to grades 7 and 8 my sister moved on to another school and I was stuck taking g the buss by myself I was 13 now so I didn’t need someone to go with me anymore. This is when I really started seeing the craziness myself. The trouble makers would always sit at the back and would rush the buss to be the first to get there they would cut the seats smoke pot would never sit down yell at the buss driver and sometimes be escorted off the buss by police. These kids thought they were cool and I just cringed watching this. The middle of the buss sat the normal people the ones that just kept too themselves and the front sat the nerds the buss drivers friends. I guess nerd being a little harsh but they kinda were. During high school it was even worse the setup was the same back had the trouble makers middle was normal people front somewhat nerds but now people where full on making out in the back so bad the driver had to yell no sex on the buss. There were even fights where someone pulled a knife out scaring a bunch of people. If you can avoid the buss please do it’s a s**t show.

Back in elementary school the school said they were getting some new school buses for us because our old ones would break down every other week. We even got to go into these new buses and look around. But after that we never saw those buses again. Which sucks because the school bus still breaks down every other week

I am a school bus driver. Middle schoolers are savages Elementary kids are animals High school is ready to check out, and so are we. But, if you have to be up by 6, we've been up since 4:30 doing our bus inspection in 15 degree Fahrenheit weather, trying to heat it so y'all don't freeze. If we are lucky, we get to keep the same bus as the day before, but this week alone 3 busses broke down on me, so if YOU froze, WE FROZE!! I promise you, this job is not a job you just go into, it takes a certain person with a LOT of patience to be able to do it and do it well... What I'm saying is, please cut us some slack... some of us have to endure 150-200 students a day, and that's a lot of kids for one adult to handle while driving a giant killing machine, especially in bad weather. But also, I was a kid who once rode the bus... I feel this in my soul x.x

I hated the bus too. Having to walk a quarter mile in the ice-cold winter , it always being incredibly loud that death metal could barely drown it out. I had to have dedicated music players because the PSP couldn’t even put enough volume to be heard at all through headphones. The Apple iPod mini was a real savior cause that little thing could blast my eardrums with death metal/hardcore EDM. 😂

I actually really enjoyed riding the bus as a kid because I like looking out the window at whatever we're passing by. I hated my bus ride home in 1st and 2nd grade, though. Those were the years when we'd pass by this house that had this statue that terrified me and gave me constant nightmares. Even though I'm not afraid of statues anymore, I still get scared when I think about that one.

I still take a bus, ever have since grade 1 or so, and i'm in grade 12. I once got sucker punched in the face, no good reason. I once got near choked to death. Got my hand bitten once Saw some "things" happen in the back I live somewhere where it's hot in summer, so the bus radiator cant keep up with stop/start traffic, so heaven forbid the bus overheats and we're stuck in traffic with screaming kids thinking we're gonna die. Man, I had one field trip where we went to an air national guard base and on the way back we were all sat in the bus and we pulled off to the side of the road, the teacher stood up looking pissed and apparently someone took 2 20mm rounds and we had to sit there for like 10 minutes until someone just rolled them down the aisle. My middle school would make us do swimming every week, and since there was only like 50-ish students they got us all in one bus. On the way there I sat at the back, where most of the older kids usually are (I was in 7th grade). All I heard was people trying to sing but forgetting the lyrics not even halfway through, kids moaning, the whole thing. The worst part were the changing rooms.. did I say rooms? I meant room. They got all the boys in one and the girls in the other, I kid you not, there was 1st grade kids all the way up to 8th in one room. Now, the younger kids didn't give no fucks, they stripped and got changed. But any child from 4th grade and up were screaming immature shit like "WhAt'S uNdEr ThAt ToWeL" and shit like that. The swimming was all over good... Okay it was shit. They let people in anyways even though our swimming "lessons" took up the whole small pool, and 3 quarters of the larger pool. One week I came home sick, my head felt heavy and I had a splitting headache. On the way back one time, I sat in the front with my 1st grade sister. I kid you not, I nearly fell asleep, I could barely hear anyone in the back. When we got back, It was like a half day.

I remember that at one point, our class needed to go on a school trip and we needed 2 buses. And it would be very akward to just stand and wait for like another 14 kids (yup I had a class whit 28 children). And that trip wasn't even better whitout that 14 children. Let's just say that girls just went to TikTok, MAYBE post cringe TikToks, maybe send like 27 snaps to that "friend", maybe go on pinterest. And well the 9 boys - 1 is screaming some memes, 2 are playing that "EPIC MUSIC ( #EPIC CAT)", 4 are screaming and 2 just wish they were on another bus :-) For short, I had 28 kids in my class and my half class is officially cringe. Was the trip worth it? Yes. Was the busses? Probably.

As a bus driver, my bus is relatively quiet, and I keep it that way. But trips can suck, not my students so they aren't trained properly, and teachers/parents don't care enough to get the kids to quiet down. Principals often just take their cars instead. Three to a seat is fine though, just lean on the person across from you.

Here's my bus situation: 7:30: bus comes to pick me up. People are pretty chill, pretty uneventful. There's this one annoying girl that sits in front of me, she's just normally like that. 3:00: Get back on the bus to head home. I'm the last one off, so I'm always in for the whole ride. I took the bus one day and it was after all my friends stops were done, I had ONE FRIEND, and the airbag popped, so I had to wait 20 minutes in a burning bus.

This reminds me of the time my bud almost flipped on it’s side. We got this super old guy bus driver, and there was this huge pile of snow. We turn the corner where the snow is at, and the bus literally goes halfway up the snow pile and my backpack fell out of the seat because of how tilted the bus was. Then it slammed down with a crash, and we were off on our way home, almost dead not even off school property.

Whenever I missed the bus after school I’d have a panic attack and then would have to sit and hide my face so no one would see me crying. Logically I knew I was fine and that my mom would come, but at the same time the flood of panic I got when no one would pick up on the phone and I was alone at school was overwhelming. As someone who lives in the Netherlands. Where school busses aren’t really a thing. This is honestly shocking. I just take the bike to school. I never knew taking a bus was this bad. Especially since when we go on a trip. We always take a “luxurious” bus. So it is never cramped
