I cooked for Bluegrass Headstart for 3 years. The kids loved those lil pizzas but honestly they loved most everything I made for them. They loved my pinto beans, cornbread, onions and fried diced hash browns. They really loved my chicken pot pie. I enjoyed cooking for them… didn’t much care about working with a couple of the teachers. Pizza looks so good 😋😋😋. You’re such a happy cook 😃😃😃. A treat to watch. ❤️I actually like breakfast sausage scrambled really fine, along with finely diced up bell peppers, onions and mushrooms on my pizza.
We had school cafeteria Pizza when I was in Middle School... I always loved it. I didn't have real pizza til I was 18 and started college. They also had Spanish Rice which was excellent.
I guess I'm too old because I don't remember ever having pizza at school. We had things like ham, meatloaf, spaghetti and even fried chicken. Always had potatoes or pasta, a vegetable and a dessert.
Oh and I thought..there's no one else out there that remembers the Nostalgia of Old School Cafeteria Pizza! 😋 Makes me so Happy. I recall when I was in School and how Unique and Delicious that PIZZA was. I love that you brought it back to our minds and hearts. It definitely brought back memories of growing up and that Cozy comfort feeling. Can't wait to try it! Thanks to you Catherine you are inspiring! 👍💖🤗
What a nice blast from the past! 😍 Your pizza dough looks amazing! I think I'll keep it in my recipes from now on. 😘 I can't tell you the times I've made rectangular pizza. ☺️ Occasionally I would get the can/tube of refrigerated pizza dough and pile it up with great toppings. 😚 Instead of the tomato based sauce, I will brush on an olive oil and herb dressing then top with Canadian bacon and mushrooms and cheese and sometimes black and/or green olives. Now I'm really hungry! 😋 So many of your great recipes take us down memory lane! 🤗 You remind us of a simpler time and spark memories of our youth and the food that we enjoyed so much! 😉 Probably at least half of your viewers will be making pizza soon using your wonderful dough recipe, topped with our favorite memories! ❣️ Thanks for sharing another great recipe! 🥰
I never knew that you could buy cling wrap with a built-in side cutter! That is life-changing and I'm going to pick some up today! Cling wrap and I have never gotten along, but I have a feeling this will be the beginning of a beautiful friendship😁
This was the only way we had pizza at home growing up. We lived way out in the country and there wasn't pizza delivery and I don't remember grocery store pizzas in the freezer section either, that was long ago in the 1960's. I really looked forward to home and school pizza made like this. I loved smelling the yeast in the fresh dough - good memories.
I was in school when we did not have pizza. LOL I love this recipe. I love italian sausage, onion, and bell pepper even some pepperoni sometimes. You make it look so easy. I enjoy watching you so much. Thank you for this recipe.
I sent your link for this pizza to my son. To my surprise he made it for his family's dinner last night. He said he followed every step. Passing down your recipes to the next generation. I was so proud he actually made it.
i grew up in Grand Island Nebraska. i was a 70's kid and 80's teen- we had excellent food homemade the pizza was the best. i still crave it and the " meat and noodles dishes especially the turkey version-- we had chili and homemade yeast rolls, and in high school they made us yeast donuts for breakfast.. Thank you for posting!
Oh my gosh, Catherine, your pizza recipe is fabulous! I can''t wait to try this. Your toppings are perfect, but sometimes I like to add black olives and mushrooms. This is making me hungry!! Thanks so much for sharing. Love your personality and your great recipes :)

We didn't have school lunches. We brought our own until high school. Even then I don't remember pizza being on the menu. Love to make pizza. I like all different flavours. Depends on my mood. Always a favourite though is pepperoni, mushroom and black olive.
CATHERINE thus pizza was looking amazing. I would eat that entire pizza lop if I had the ingredients I would.ger up and make it right now. My mouth is watering for it. YUM!
My grandkids Love pizza & I absolutely Love this recipe ! Will be making it when my grandkids come to stay on weekends! we spend lots of time at the beach ⛱ & this will be a easy meal, with a nice toss salad for their hungry appetites! Aloha & Mahalo from Hawaii 🏝☀️🌊🏄♀️🏄♂️🤙❤
Oh yea a step back in time! I had forgotten how great that pizza was every Friday ❤️ Even though we went to school on Fridays it was the perfect start to my weekend! In school it was pepperoni but when I make it at home, my family loves onions and green peppers or sausage onions and green peppers 😊 Thank you!!
Oh yeah! We always had that kind of pizza on Fridays in elementary school, and it was always cheese pizza. Sometimes, every once in a while we would have what they called a pizza boat. Which was basically like a French bread pizza.
Thank you for bringing back memories Catherine. I loved pizza day at school too! Your’s looked so delicious I could almost smell it! You just make the yummiest meals and snacks! Thank you for being you! 😊
I remember lunchroom pizza and it was delicious. Thick crust with sauce, veggies and pepperoni. Thank you Catherine for that memory and thanks for sharing your recipes. 🙂❤️
Pizza.. Spicy Italian sausage, onions, peppers, mushrooms and black olives. School style - sheer heaven! Thank you! I'm making this tonight instead of lasagna!
Can’t wait to make these with my grandkids !! I will let them help the whole process & they can make their own .. Thank You 😊 have a blessed & safe weekend
Oh I remember school pizza .. and I’m with you , sausage a must on a pizza ! Sausage , Bacon , mushroom and onion are my favorite !! This looks great ..
Way back in the 70's, our stupendous lunch lady( Mrs Moreci) made what she called "pizza burgers". It was a meat sauce on a half of a hamburger bun with American cheese on top. All the kids loved them ! Thanks Sam Moreci for your wonderful mom feeding us so good !
Yummy, thanks for dough recipe I put sauce and pepperoni ,cheeses hamburger or cheese pizzas I add bell pepper mushrooms olives Monterey Jack mozzarella to the hamburger one,and and capers
The marinara sauce is classic with Italian Sausage, peppers and onions. But Raos‘ also has a Pizza sauce in a smaller jar, for a traditional pizza flavor. Our school served thin cardboard like crust with a cheese product on top. Lol
Wow I can’t believe that someone else also loved the school pizza. I always get funny looks when I bring up the fact that I loved it, also I rememberer being surprised when I found out that pizza came in wedges instead of rectangular pieces. Another thing I also loved was the school enchiladas 🤣. When I get time I will definitely be trying this recipe. Thanks Catherine.
Looks yummy,as usual. Am a very old "service brat",many schools, don' recall pizza anywhere. But when I did discover pizza it became my favorite food anytime. Continue cooking for one and all.🍕
I used to get mine on a Friday My mom used to give me money to get it every Friday. My favorite pizza 🍕is either sausage and mushrooms or Margherita pizza. But I also like Hawaiian pizza. Yummo!!!
Ours was square, but it had 'SNAILS' on them....I think they were fennel seeds? It's gotta have those. 😆 (I'm 53 years young, so I'm talking about 70's Indiana school pizza).
Yum! I remember those days. The pizza was definitely a favorite along with taco pie I think it was called but they didn't have that one every week. Thank you for your recipe love it! 😋
I remember school pizza too, Catherine. Every Friday we had a choice of: Cheese Pizza (huge rectangle slices) and side salad or creamy baked mac -n- cheese with a fried fish filet. For dessert we had no bake refrigerator cookie bars. On Wednesdays the ladies served chicken pinwheels- they looked like a large cinnamon roll only with chicken filling & mashed potatoes, gravy and seasoned green beans.😋
When we made pizza at home, we put all the toppings on without cooking them. Just very small clumps of sausage along with our favorite vegetables. It cooked very well in the oven.
i have Canadian bacon mushrooms onions and pineapple Sometimes i put mushrooms and rest veggies...sometimes i put chicken and bbq sauce too...everyone is different.
School lunch pizza was the BEST!!! I’m with you Catherine,, sausage❤️❤️ The homemade crust looks easy enough to make. You took me back to high school with this kind of pizza. Thanks so much for sharing! ❤️ yummm 😋
I suffered through school every day of the week just to make it to pizza day on Friday lol. That always made up for the rest of the week. My favorite was just plain old cheese. :)
Catherine, like you I love the smell of yeast! The pizza looks so good although when I make one I would add the black olives and mushrooms you mentioned. Btw I know this sounds bizarre but smoked oysters on pizza is my favorite. If you like them give it a try...you might be surprised!
I loved pizza back in school too. I love Hawaiian pizza or a classic pepperoni and mushroom (shitaki or portobello). Will have to try making my own dough. Great video!
Pizza is nature’s most perfect food! Our school pizza had cheese and cooked hamburger. That thick crust was the bomb! Ordering out it’s the standard combination - pepperoni, green peppers, onions, and hamburg. Made at home - cheese, pepperoni, black olives, and whatever veggies we have handy in the refrigerator. Load it up!
