Is there anything stopping an admitted three-year student from going through the full program and then matching into a different residency program outside of WSU? Per one of the earlier points in the video, there is no written agreement to be guaranteed a residency spot because it would violate the Match process. Your only stipulations are that all academic milestones must be met on the first attempt, all mentorship appointments must be met, no professionalism violations, and not have an academic leave of absence, lest you default to the four year program. If I’m interpreting this correctly, a student would still have the right to apply to any residency during the Match process, per these criteria. Students would still meet the LCME requirements to graduate medical school, so it stands to reason that a student admitted to this three-year program would be well within their right to apply elsewhere, provided that they meet the program’s criteria for graduation. Is the caveat that you would prevent students from graduating if you chose to do this?
