This is a good video for a number of reasons. First, the cameraman and editors did a great job. Rather than doing the usual bunch of sub-second closeups that make me have seizures, they kept some distance so we could watch the entire band! What a novel idea. They all contribute to the sound. All my life I have been a bass player wannabe and normally the bass players get little or no time on camera. I get that this bass player is also the singer so maybe that's why she got more attention, and she is a phenomenal player. As a rule, bass players and backup singers don't get nearly enough credit and they add so much. This video was a nice change from that. Finally, like most school of rock videos, these kids are awesome. I am old, so yeah they are kids.
Talk about a blast to the past! I was about their age when Cream did this and I was playing this with my band out in my parents garage. These youngsters restore my belief that Rock And Roll Will Never Die!! ✌
Caroline, I did not see the Cream in '68 at the Grande Ballroom in Detroit, but I did see Jack Bruce play Crossroads with Leslie in 72 in Chicago. They played it up tempo like you and your boys did in this video. I have seen Clapton play it a dozen times and after Cream he never played it up tempo until I saw them in 2005 at Opening Night of the Cream Reunion concerts at the Royal Albert Hall. They played it up tempo and with opening night JOY!! I have always suspected Clapton never played it up tempo again because he never had a bass player who could really keep up like Jack Bruce did. And with my understanding of the history of Jack Bruce, Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker, I really think Jack Bruce would be very pissed at you for playing his riffs so well!!! You sound really great in this video!!!
It is her voice as much as her bass playing which impresses me. Very smooth with a bluesy feel. Not tying to scream it. A ting of Bonnie Ratt with a bit of Susan Tesdeschi (on her quieter songs. Just saw her last night). With her bass playing a potentially powerful combination.
It's at least 5 generations lol and if you wanna count generations of musicians, I think you need to count every 10 years for that. Especially guitarists.
Caroline and all. Great job. Bass, extremely tight and to sing at the same time, on key. Fine line between amateur and professional. Done so well. Found the groove.
I've got the exact same bass! I love when I see other people playing the same one as I love it so much, and I'm always confident it's the same one because it's such a unique fender PBass! They really don't make anything else with that awesome satin finish.
wow... i dreamed about playing with a bass player as crazily talented as you when i was younger and doing the band thing... playing and singing with such ease... and sitting right in the pocket the whole time... bravo!
Wow her voice is as good as her playing. She's got a little glint in her eye too. She just might have something to say. I'd buy her album. I'd pay to see her band play live. She's a deceptively shredding bassist. Check out the 2112
Theres power in this cover and a refreshing alternate to live Cream anthem. Not easy for a singer to play the offbeat Jack Bruce riff while syncing the words and she does it like a breeze. Ok, I used headphones to hear the Fender precision and wish she had a MusicMan bass with a humbucker bridge pick-up, but who cares? The song is all there and her sexy tenor voice breathes bluesy life into the Clapton, Bruce, Baker uber arrangement of the Robert Johnson classic. Well done!
