The legend!!! I’ll never understand why people don’t bring this dude up .. Thank God for “KING OF NEW YORK” for putting (AM I BLACK ENOUGH FOR YOU) on that film …
I was 13 when PSK dropped.Copped the 12 inch $3.99 at Music Factory in Brooklyn NY.I can IMAGINE the challenge mixing all that bass .Dope interview.Thank you.
It's crazy, before the bass era, compressors mostly didn't have high pass filters (lets big bass through without affecting the rest of the mix). Trying to mix bass music without those tools was probably a headache! I even struggle to balance the bass with all the modern tools today. That's why Schoolly is the mane!!
School always has a nice, big smile and didnt have to give hard looks to get his points across. He knows who he is and always showed natural confidence. Thats a Healthy Mind.
Schoolly D! Gangsta boogie, gangsta boogie! Welcome to funkadelica, put ya filas on is my stuff, idk if he read comments from his interviews or not, but love, man.
Much appreciated, @adriansmith4064. We're glad you enjoyed the interview. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt & for being a member for 7 months!!!
First time I ever heard Schooly D, was "Smoke Some Kill" and I been a fan ever since. I wonder if his Parkside Killers went at the Hilltop Hustlers, just askin'???;
the scratching on Maniac is wild sounds like he's using the transform switches on the 'ahhhh' scratch.. it's so tight - it was "T-Ski Flash" ..prior to Code Money and he brought T-Ski in for the Welcome to American album.
@@defcreator187 thanks for your reply - yes it's robotic sharp - good job with the technics mixer and the rhythm scratch - those are scratches I love focusing on as well
Schoolly D and KRS One are the 1st and possibly the best MC / Producer / Artist Hip Hop has ever had; along with but before Q-Tip, Diamond D, RZA, Dilla, Count Bass D, Young L, Large Professor, - who else? Respect to Schoolly D. I wish in interviews he was asked more about his production, how he pieced the music together, what equipment he used, etc.
Schoolly D & KRS-One are two of the all-time greats for sure, @april7thartwork. Neither gets enough credit for their work & versatility. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
I still bump PSK every chance I get! I was living in West Philly when this came out I was in JR high school! I didnt find out till I was an adult what PSK really meant!
Thanks for the lesson. Didn't know Schooly D was the founder of Gangsta Rap, not NWA. And also the founder of Storytelling Rap, not Slick Rick. Always was my favorite rap name though, Schooly D, not Schoolboy Q.
Schoolly D is definitely in my top five artists off all time, new album isn’t good though, very disappointed. On a different note I played my positively black album last night and on the back saw the phrase “each one teach one” I thought straight away Soren Baker says that lol
