Another plus for the Schpirerr Farbens is that they are available Open Stock on Etsy. I can't remember if Pamela mentioned that. The owner of the SF Company runs the Etsy store & is happy to answer any questions about her pencils.
I have always loved my SCHPIRERR FARBENS. I used to have the smaller set, now have 96. They have been around a much longer time. Yes, I am in love with the BRUTFUNER 120 squares too.
I have the square Brutfuner pencils and absolutely LOVE them! They lay down color so easily with almost no pressure and blend like a dream. Your video was great and showed me a lot about the Schpierr Farben, I've been thinking about getting them, but as far as budget friendly I feel they're too high prices for the number of pencils you get. I also have the 168 set of round Brutfuner pencils and they work beautifully with the square set widening the range of colors between the two sets as well, and the 168 set was even more budget friendly than the square set. Thank you for doing this video and showing the wonderful capabilities of the Brutfuner square set, so many people think they're "cheap" and they're anything but!
Really nice to see that the Farbens now have a color name on them...I've had mine for a couple of years and they only had numbers on them. They are a great pencil, glad to see the improvements.
Wow this is a tough call if one is better than the other. They both seem to produce really lovely results. Given the number of colors available in each vs the price, it seems like the Bruts would be the most bang for the buck. But, I think the SFs look really great as well.
I love my SF pencils I feel that they are worth the money. I do intend on getting 120 set of Brutfuner pencils. I put it this way I am truly a color pencil woman. You can't have enough pencils. I have not brought pencils in a while so why not. They both seem nice. Thank you Pamela. Happy coloring.
Hello Pamela ! You're the Best! I think that you read in my mind!!! I m very happy you made this video because I love these 2 sets of pencils and Im very interrested by your comparison ! Thank you !!! 😘
I am so happy that you're enjoying them. Make sure you check out my Color & Chats where I am using these wonderful pencils. Here is the playlist for the series. I have another being released tomorrow which is Part 3. ru-vid.com/group/PLCV050IiJShpdro9ywKzHwN6dvY-rAGV5
I have the Brutfuner 180 and the 96 Schrpiereer Farben. I love both sets but I tend to favour my S. Farben, especially for doing florals, sunsets and oceans.
Hi Pamela! Do you like these better than the arteza pencils? I know one is oil and 1 is wax but overall do you like them better? I feel like I am the only one that was not impressed by the arteza pencils but the brutfuners I am very interested in trying because I do love my pablos and polychromos
I have my Brütfuner set for a few days now, I bought them after watching your video, thank you very much, I love them and am delighted to color with them
I like the idea of more pencils-more colors but I like the colors you chose in the smaller set better. I wonder if there are colors that match those better in the larger set too or if the 2 sets are just very different colors
The two sets do have different colors. If you watched the video all the way through, you will see where I talked about the colors and even pointed out that you get some amazing brown shades in the Brutfuner set that you don’t get in any other set. I also showed a lot of the choices for the Reds and the pinks up close. Please let me know if you have anymore questions.
I love the shapirerr farben so mush, I use them in sketchbooks, where lightfastness doesn't matter. I have found that you can get very smooth blends , much better than shown, but you do need great techniques which focus on pressure variations. Great control is the most important factor to a smooth blend. Layering with the same pressure will always create lines andshe is using more of a smooching technique than a proper layering technique. If you like to smooch rather than layer the brutfuner would be a better choice , depends on your preferred technique, i personally have always preferred layering as you can get more nuances colours as the layers interact optically with each other. Also I find them to have better colour coverage , with much less graininess or clumpy built up look than brutfuner.
It must be hard to compare pencil sets from different brands when you can't get the exact same colors and you have to get as close as possible. However, is it just my imagination, or do you think the Schpirerr Farben pencils are more vibrant than the Brutfuner? Brutfuners are very, very good, but which is more vibrant to you?
Loved this video! Now I’m debating whether I should mix both sets together to make one giant set! The only thing I would have to do would be to put both sets together in perfect color family order! All I would have to do is follow your excellent example!
I hated my box SCHPIRERR FARBEN and send it back. They where the most scratchy pencils I have ever had (next after the staedtler ergosoft). Tried on diff. sorts of paper. Horrible. Now I also have the square Brutfuner and I LOVE them 😍.
Pamela, do you know if spirrer farben changed their formula when they made the 96 set? I have the 72 set from when they first came out but your appear to be a little more pigmented and I’m wondering if it’s just because it’s on camera or if they changed formulas. Tia.
I have not heard anything like this. Maybe it has to do with the amount of pressure or layers that were applied? They are wonderful pencils and should be pretty pigmented.
I know this is an older video but this has some really helpful stuff. A swatch binder is such a good idea. I want to do that lol Is there a video on that?
Oh goodness that’s a good question! I’m not sure if I’ve shown that before. I may have in the first part of a video somewhere! I’ll have to do one. That’s a great idea.
I’m waiting for a good price on the Schpirerr Farben, they sell for over a $100.00 on Amazon. I think that’s too expensive so I buy other pencils while waiting for a decent price on Amazon.
I love it when you praise the Brut FUNERS 🎉😂. Love that you bought 2 sets of them as I did too, for replacements when there is nothing left of a certain colour to sharpen. I also draw with mine for the fun of it. I love that they have the word FUN in their name because of them being budget friendly, so will use them for experimenting too. 💐🌹🐝✨✨✨✨✨✨thankyou for all your information. 💖💐💖💐💖💐💖💐💖💐💖💐💖💐💖💐💖💐💖💐💖💐💖💐🌻🐝✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
