My opinion is this is a large and in charge knife. Fantastic for hard bush use and carry. It would also make a really decent camp knife if you are wanting to do some heavier tasks such as Batoning and Firewood prep.
Description:
Brandishing the heft and strength of 1095 carbon steel, the SCHF52 offers outdoor enthusiasts a knife eager to take on the rigors of the back country.
The powder coated fine edged blade resists corrosion and is razor sharp right out-of-the box. The knife is 12.99" overall, which contributes to its versatility and ease of use. The 90 degree angle of the knife's spine can be used as a fire-starter by striking it against the ferro rod.
Milling on the TPE handle defies the elements, providing a sure grip in any weather condition while also offering a contoured design that fits with your hand's natural shape. Pass cordage through the lanyard hole to keep the SCHF52 close at hand.
The black polyester sheath, with its Velcro loop, makes it easy to attach the sheath without the need to remove your belt. Lash the sheath to your leg or other gear with the available cordage. The sheath pouch comes packing a ferro rod, striker, and sharpening stone.
Specifications:

Overall Length: 32.99 cm
Blade Material: 1095 Carbon Steel
Blade Finish: Black Powder Coated

I hard use tested a bunch of what Schrade billed as “Survival Knives” back in 2015-16. All the Hollow Ground knives broke. The only one’s that still survive today are my SCHF2SM and SCHF38...food for thought.

They all rather easily broke off a sizable chunk of the tip and/or in the edge of the blade. A few developed cracks in the edge which ended up snapping the blade. They are a good value but I wouldn’t depend on one. The SCHF3N snapped a good 1/2” off the tip just throwing it into a tree...

My Schrade schf 36 has been great no problems with chopping and batoning and my Schrade schf 43/Jessica X hollow grind has done well too I cut down a 4 inch diameter oak tree with it and batoned heavier logs with it also

Most of the breaks I experienced was the tips snapping off rather easily. I hard tested a lot of 1095 knives from multiple manufacturers. I also noticed inconsistencies with Schrade’s heat treatments...normal use they should be fine. I also broke the brittle Becker BK-7 & BK-9...

Picture a pry bar, now picture again a pry bar thats sharpened, thats what the Schrade 51 and 52 are all about. I've seen a pry bar with the same thickness of the Schrade 52 being used to lift a bit a 1400 lb safe on concrete garage floor, now thats what these Schrade blades can do if using it in that capacity for a few minutes or so.

@@KnifeToolNerd I have yet to use it in the field or do any real work with it but overall I’m pretty confident w it’s durability. I don’t expect perfection as it is still a 50$ knife but overall I’m pretty happy w its quality. As I said before my only complaint is that It didn’t come razor sharp which most knives don’t these days. I just wish I knew how to sharpen it a lil more.

You should watch JOE X destroy this knife. He makes your tests look like a kindergartner. I don't like the hollow grind. It seems too deep, especially the tip.

Hi. I've watched him a few times but to be honest his tests are overkill hence I don't really enjoy them. I have yet to see people shoot their knives etc in day to Day life. First few tests are good the rest is just aimed at views being destructive. No real interesting take away in my opinion. This knife is now quiet old. Has chopped down several smaller saplings and still going strong. Thanks for the comment.

Also this is a really cheap knife for the money so I don't expect it to be a super steel. Just really great value. 👍

@@KnifeToolNerd I'm unsure whether to get this type of budget knife or something like the Survival Lilly APO 1S....which is nearly 3 times the price I have never owned one before, don't want to become an expert on them either, just looking for a strong sturdy one that's decent all round and will do for bushcraft/survival situation and it'll do for life, is there a minimum spend on something like that? Is it in the €50-100 range or more €100-150 range?
