I'm 78 now, listened to and played a lot of classical music among which by Schubert, as I was saying at 78 I'd never heard this adagio. I stumbled on it becuase of some viewer of the movie on the Wannsee Conference in which it played a part

Schubert's passionate and beautiful string quintet led by the beautiful and passionate Yoko Henkel, what more could you want. All of the ensemble are top class and look as if they are enjoying the occasion.

Played this when I was on a student week-end break and loved it (we did the Mendelssohn Octet too!). My teacher said she'd never heard the slow movement played that slowly and kept waiting for it to come adrift, but it worked, as did this brilliant performance.

I completely understand Stravinsky whom I absolutely respect and love. This piece is a prayer to Dionysos, the god of tragedy and clensing. This prayer relieses the soul of aĺl the sins. Accompanied with a glass of wine, will be my last wish before I die in peace!....

The dynamic range specified by Schubert is ppp through ff. Adagio is a tempo indication, not a dynamic.
