Schubert's quintet in C major is one of the very best pieces of chamber music ever written. The question immediately flows: Is a romantic, emotional piece the summit? Or the honor should go to more complex, musically more innovative works? I am thinking of the late quartets by Beethoven, including the Grosse Fugue. Of course the Schubert quintet in C is more emotional, more beauteous, more romantic, more, if you will, "human". However, when Schubert was very ill, approaching death, he requested that Beethoven Grosse Fuge was played at his bedside. You may argue, quite correctly that there is no possible comparison among different composers and different works of genius. You may add that both the quintet and the fuge are works of genius and stand by themselves, for eternity, as a proof that humanity may approach divinity. Thanks for uploading this marvelous quintet.

@@JonathanSanders458 No. In that performance the first and second cello have changed places. The first cello starts playing first then the second cello follows. Because the second cello plays against the first violin, like the first violin plays against the clarinet in the octet, the second cello should always be placed most right.
