Andrew Schulz and Charlamagne Tha God discuss what Drake should do next and the shooting at his mansion. #andrewschulz #charlamagnethagod #drake #kendricklamar
15:10 These two dudes (Schulz and Charlamagne) are the ones. Their views are the only ones that I find myself agreeing with on this battle. The Hot 97 stuff (with Ebro & Peter 🤢) is whack af
People need to talk about this more. He’s literally told two different stories about the events of that night, neither of which are consistent with the paperwork that got leaked years ago. 😭😭 he sweating
Drake is huge in Europe, Asia, Australia etc this black power music Kendrick makes isn’t going to transcend language barriers the way drake does. I’m a bigger Kendrick fan then drake fan, but I’m also not naive enough to think Kendrick has fans outside of the USA
Bro my mom dad and gradma know who Drake is. They have never heard of Kendrick Lamar. I think Kendrick bodied Drake and i love Kendrick over Drake, but they do have a point.
@@PortuguesePlayer21 I get what y’all saying. But because oldheads or teenie bops in the burbs hear Drakes music playing in a Target or in a elevator has no bearing on who is number one. Knowing of someone doesn’t mean they think he’s number one, most causals don’t even have a stance on the subject of who’s number one. The context of the convo is who is number one in rap music.
World famousness he is. Drake is a worldwide pop star who is one of the biggest selling artists of all time. Nobody in Thailand gives a fuck about Kendrick, nobody in Canary Isalnds gives a fuck about Kendrick. Drake is a SUPERSTAR, Kendrick is one of the biggest rappers around but they are on two totally different levels. Drake is in Taylor Swift/Ed Sheeran levels of fame. He’s not wrong. Also Kendrick’s like 5’5, he’s way smaller ;)
1. Kelley was never my bag to listen to. 2. I get my reference directly from a Dame Dash interview. According to Dame, they were asked by her to let it go because of the trauma. That's different from hearsay, wouldn't you agree? I don't have a reference to judge the other artists interactions with him.
People always knew Kendrick was number one - Drake just drops all the time and makes club hits, Kendrick could do that too but would rather make the shit that he would fuck with as a fan of music
@@jameltandersoneven if he does, if that’s the only thing that matters to u and Drake after all this, you completely missed the point of all Kendrick said and Drake’s hate
He’ll say anything to feel like he’s got the upper hand. Like sir That’s not what the rest of the world decided. Just because u can shout over this room, doesn’t mean u won lmfaoo
Why didn't you mention views or take care or iyrtitl or clb or scorpion or nwts and you mentioned Kenny's biggest first week I'm not a big drake fan or even American but cmon it's quite obvious the size difference b/w these rappers
Corny to address in rap beef, but there are ways to justify it? Yep. The fact that they blindly dismiss allegations of both sides, especially on Drake’s because it’s clearly plausible, if not definitive that he’s at the very least a horrible person, this is most concerning. That said, they’re a little more moderate than previous podcast eps, especially the insufferable Akademics episode.
I can see what they’re getting at with how it’s corny to bring up this stuff (even tho Drake’s ego instigated it) in a rap beef. I know Kendrick is an activist type guy as it goes with the conscious rap stuff but even then at the end of the day it’s weird that he brings it up this way. Because the whole industry is partly complicit of they are aware of Drake’s behavior as well as the corporate music execs actions. That said I can see Kendrick intending to publicize the issue so there is backlash if Drake isn’t rightfully investigated or if more evidence comes to light, arrested for his alleged cruelties.
And lastly, they seem to ignore the trafficking links and crime associations OVO is affiliated with, and Ebony Prince the Twitter whistle blower releasing plausible evidence for dark actions on drake’s part, along with more evidence of the MtG cover.
I have a feeling the narrative would be different if Drake won, and technically the internet created meet the grahams... Everyone kept saying "that's not enough from Kendrick"... He kept responding
Im looking at some real compromised mofos on this. Some old heads that don't know jack about hip-hop speaking on hip-hop. More info came out about Drake that's backing up Kendrick's claims more and more so im chalking this up to an episode that was prerecorded.
Another thing that yal aren’t touching on, is that Kendrick speaks for the have-nots. And in 2024, most people “have not”. Another reason people are naturally going to gravitate towards him.
I actually don't think drake putting out proof for his allegations against Kendrick is smart.. coz he know some of the stuff Kendrick said could be true and Kendrick can back it up as well. Kendrick beating on his wife or fathering someone else's child is not a good look for Kendrick, but if Drake does sleep around with minors and Kendrick can prove that!! It's over for homie..
They can sit here and say the "pedophile" thing is corny, but K. Dot said it perfectly, they could've kept it a fun rap battle, without bringing in families, etc. Drake brought up innocent/decent people, which is why he called him out for pedophile tendencies. Schulz's definition of a pedophile is so misconstrued. Charlamagne's definition is correct, whereas Schulz's example highlight's pedophile tendencies because people always say, when that 30+ year old was 16, his 16 year old love interest was only 2 years old. Charlamagne forgetting that Questlove comes from the era when De La Soul was beefing with Native Tongues, a beef that didn't consider the mudslinging by any means necessary thing.
I agree I definitely see Drake as in the wrong more here with his ego and his character, and how it’s okay to slightly exaggerate believably in a beef. That said they bring up a compelling, valid point where they’ve badly marketed this as big 3 takedown to get Kendrick to the top as he is an amazing artist, but in doing so he has been corny if the allegations are true (and with ebony prince a Twitter whistleblower and Drake’s playboy nature it certainly seems credible) and he doesn’t care about the kids completely because they’ve used this as an opportunity to bring this stuff to light. That makes the entire industry (UMG, Lucian Grange and corporate labels and conglomerates) as well as the artists complicit. That said this is the perfect opportunity to do so at the same time because the public is aware and law enforcement are more likely to actually prosecute without taking hush money and avoiding consequences for Drakes action. So it’s like the people in the industry are essential martyrs, far from saints, for a greater cause. We know from Metro’s tweets that he has similar tendencies (predatory, pdf-philic, and playboy-esque behavior), same goes for Future. And Metro saying that he has dirt on Drake but he can’t say it because it’s embarrassing for both of them tells me they clearly are complicit and have thrown wild parties. So if anything this stuff has made me dislike celebrities and artists as people even more. I just assume every artist I have to separate their art from their twisted actions and backwards morality.
@@paradise_valley excellent breakdown and thank you for taking the time to do so. I overlooked the actuality of the points you brought up in the second paragraph. I'm also appreciative of the fact that you mentioned other artists who have similar traits to the ones that are targeting Drake at the moment. It reminds me of that saying, "there's no honor among thieves". I guess the same can be said for those who exhibit explicit or high level, "deviant behavior". At the end of the day, the entire industry needs an overview and to be cleared up.
@@Quest1luv nw man this lives rent free in my head too much. Nice shout out to De La Soul and Questlove. If it weren’t for artists like MF DOOM, A Tribe Called Quest and Black Thought I don’t think I would be listening to hip-hop/rap as genre as often as I am more of a rock and guitar-heavy guy myself. It’s great to hear their influence in certain elements of certain songs of this era.
@@Quest1luv it’s more so the blatant hypocrisy on both sides. I appreciate so many of the artists musically but even J. Cole who was a decent and likable dude compared to Metro Boomin and Future as a person is either a bumbling idiot, complicit in supporting Drake’s predatory behaviours or business-minded and greedy like many of these colleagues of Drake were as recently as last year. The fact that they choose to just suddenly decide to bring up the dirt in Drake now leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Even J. Cole who has some decent verses and seemed like a decent, likable fella I now question because he is either business minded like the rest of them, a bumbling idiot, complicit in enabling Drake’s predatory behavior or a combination of the above. It’s just made me more cynical about reality as a whole and I know it’s silly but that’s how I feel tbh.
Honestly, everyone is looking at this from a music perspective, which is normal bc its "rap beef". Everyone outside of Kdot is just out to diss drizzy bc of some problems they had in the past but Dot is really calling out the HUMAN BEING in Drake, hes aiming at his values, beliefs and all the fundamentals of a human being. He has very little care for Drake as an artist, he said (even thought he may have been playing) "still want you to see success, everything with me is bless".
Kendrick has 17 Grammys and Drake has 5...how is Drake still bigger than Kendrick??? I get it, people like the cultural vibe that Drake brings as an artist in a time where it's easy to play to the low hanging fruit, but Kendrick can not only do that, he challenges that, he challenges culture. He's thought provoking, and is an open book on things that really matter. I like Drake but this to me is equivalent to Biggie Vs. 2 Tupac, and though I'm from Brooklyn, I gravitated toward Pac more because he touched on subjects that matter in society and challenged culture while still respecting being apart of it.
It is basically what Mos Def said regarding Drake. The music does not confront anything internally or externally so it appeals to a wide group of ears. It is hip hop elevator music
As a fan of both Drake and Kendrick, here's why: Sales. People are consuming more content from Drake than they are from Kendrick because Drake consistently has better beats. Notice how the needle moves for Kendrick when he does the same. Kendrick needs to stay with top producers like Mike Will, Mustard, and hopefully Metro, if he cares about being number one.
Yeah but drakes discography cannot be summarised into a single genre even in a single album he's going to have songs that hit a different vibe to each other so let's not act like Drake is just some ordinary elevator music artist. Also if you go to the route in which you compare their accolades and accomplishments Drake outshines Kendrick even considering the Pulitzer prize however unlike Drake kendrik is more humble and conscious in his music. Giving them their props doesn't mean you have to discredit the other they are both great artists in their own rights just one of them you like more than the other and thats okay since it's your preference
People have come out and stacked on Drake coz they are thinking “finally”… Kendrick attacking him has given everyone the balls to jump on now… they have been knowing who Drake really is for a while.
Schulz really on a committed and consistent campaign for drake. time and again schulz has been saying the same phrases and points again and again as if they were written and handed over to say it to the masses. these convo structures fell scripted asf; especially whatever drakes white brother is sayin on every podcast or broadcasted platform/.
"Why is no artist supporting Drake" ? Hmm idk, why is no artist in support of Diddy? 😂😂 Also, 50 DEFINITELY came out to support Drake, and hardly anyone supporting Kendrick in the industry either
You can’t successfully sue someone for calling you a pedo. You would have to prove that what someone said about you is untrue in a defamation case. Legally, you can only prove that you’re a pedo, you can’t disprove it
They sound like some haters bringing people down destroying peoples accomplishments or even being competitive for that reason makes you a terrible individual specially if that a mindset
Drake is a massive superstar at Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran levels … Kendrick is huge but still much smaller than Drake. It’s two totally different levels. He does not have the all penetrating worldwide super stardom that Drake has. That’s not a diss - almost nobody on the planet does.
Schulz projecting hard on this issue. He's had his own issues, being an arrogant asshole to smaller comedians and all. He thinks that the reason he got backlash is cause he's gotten relatively big and doesn't want to hold himself accountable.
Not only would suing be a b*tch move on drakes part but suing would mean that they would have to have a discovery and actually go into drakes life behind the scenes and I don’t think he is willing to take the risk that they find something to prove Kendrick’s point given the fact that there is already public evidence that he is a weird dude lol
People who say Kendrick isn’t the best and are talking commercial metrics can’t tell the difference between your and you’re so that argument doesn’t matter to me 🤷🏼
4:35 andrew is not wrong here idc what anyone says that was perfect. it's not a win for music. also there is threads on kendrick to we see in the Drake fandom, but i can't say if they are right or wrong. i can only say nobody is in the fandom right now being nice to us from the outside and we are getting called names left and right if we comment stuff outside of the fandom spaces. so that is true to, that more people want to see drake fall. so anything against drake gets massively taken over before we can do much about it. and then yes some of us are scared to defend him because some people are labeling us as the things in the songs and that's unfair right now.
