I completely agree! In 2017 and 2018 the GOP controlled the House, the Senate and the White House under trump. They failed to pass any legislation on the border, instead focusing on building a cheap, fake, few miles of the wall for show-n-tell which mostly has already fallen down. Last month the republicans and Democrats in the Senate worked together to draft the most conservative, sweeping reforms to border security in the last 30 years, and trump made a phone call and told the GOP to vote it down because he wouldn't get any credit for it.

Because when a BIPARTISAN bill was drafted with the help of Republican senators (like Lankford of Oklahoma) that would have seriously helped with border security, Donald Trump urged his Republican stooges in Congress NOT to take it up. He doesn't WANT to solve the problem. Republicans want the problem to continue so they can complain about it and use it as an election issue. Republicans don't WANT TO solve problems or legislate -- they only want to run for office and STAY in office. Meanwhile, the people of Ukraine are dying for us. Vladimir Putin is a dictator who hates the west and Americans. It's us he WANTS to be killing, but he can't do that, so instead (like Hitler annexing Austria, then invading Poland and Czechoslovakia) he tries to crush Ukraine in a vicious, criminal, proxy war. And Israel is NOT the Israel of our (my) youth -- the virtuous, plucky little underdog. Instead, under Netanyahu, they have become expansionist bullies themselves. And American Jews, like Schumer, and Bernie Sanders -- and me - - are disappointed and getting pretty sick of it.

If the "uncommitted" votes are freaking Democrats out, then I think they're panicking needlessly. The people who cast those as protest votes against Biden still have to vote for him in the general election. The large majority of their budget isn't coming from the U.S., and the weapons they can't build themselves they can buy from other countries. The U.S. isn't the only country that has been willing to sell weapons to them. So, Israel would probably still be able to maintain a military that is superior to those of their neighbors. They're also generally believed to possess nuclear weapons, which their enemies still don't have at this point. If it ever came down to a true last stand for their own survival, these could potentially come into play as well.

In the end, Israel isn't going to leave Hamas standing, regardless of what the U.S. says. So, if Biden draws a red line in front of Rafah, the Israelis are going to drive their tanks right over it.

Israel bought its weapons from Czechoslovakia. And by the way, Israel apologized for the USS Liberty thing, and the U.S. got past it a long time ago. You probably should, too. :-)
