You work with magnetic materials, day in day out, you're setting up in vices, or on blocks with straps and clamps.
You get out your stack of shim stock, so you can level the block and prevent stressing the material with clamping and cutting it.
You prep the edges, maybe you get some push clamps, so you can face the top without juggling straps and clamps.
Annnnnd don't forget your dial to make sure the part isn't moving as you clamp and unclamp. Even though you'll probably have to flip this piece a few times to get it flat.
It's the way I went through it anyway, your experience may vary, but it was one of frustration and aggravation.
I don't know how many times I've cursed this process in my career, simply because I can't count that high. So obviously, it's gotta be more than four ;)
There are alternatives, in this video, I'll take you through one that has been saving manufacturers a lot of time, and money. Also, it's creating a safer, brighter work environment for those on the shop floor.
