Part of "Science 2024", the NePTUNE projet was collecting data in the swimming pool of École Polytechnique.
With funds from the Plan d’Investissement d’Avenir, it brings together 5 "Grandes Écoles" (ENPC, ENS, Centrale Lyon, INSA Rouen Normandie et INSA Lyon), 5 universities (Universités de Rouen Normandie, Rennes, Picardie, Lille et Paris XIII) and the Institut National du Sport, de l’Expertise et de la Performance (INSEP). Also with help from the Fédération française de Natation and of the Fédération française Handisport.
Scientists and swimmers work together to mesure propulsion and resistances facing each other as we move in water. The goal ? Help trainers and athletes win a few hundredth of a second on the finish line, and win gold at the next olympics !
