Next into The Den is scientist Marc Wileman or ‘Mad Marc'. Wileman is the founder of Sublime Science, a business that makes science “awesome” for primary school-age children across the country with science parties, workshops, shows, and more. He’s seeking £50,000 in return for a 10% equity stake.
An international sensation, Dragon's Den features entrepreneurs pitching for investment in the Den from our Dragons, five venture capitalists willing to invest their own money in exchange for equity.

Most people overvalue their company. This guy undervalued it.
@carbon1255
@carbon1255 2 года назад
Not true, he correctly valued the dragons. He had capped out at a certain size, the company no doubt needed redesigning to expand further. Dragons are particularly adept at expanding businesses, and will easily bring 10% more value with their connections and contracts. He is looking to quadruple the business at least.

If you want to get some offers from the dragons, it's pretty simple... Just make sure to wear a nice looking suit and once you are in front of them you need to drop your pants. They will immediately be impressed by your big balls and should get incredibly excited. After that, throw them a few insults to insure your superiority. Now you can do your presentation normally and at the end I guarantee you they'll fight each other to give you their money. Enjoy being a millionaire!

I like both DD and Sharktank. Sharktank USA has an edge over DD though in terms of negotiation dynamic that can take place between entrepreneurs and investors, which is much more realistic in what happens when entrepreneurs are going for investment. Also, "the sharks" seem to be willing to take a punt on things that "the dragons" would pass on. I prefer on DD that they don't push entrepreneurs to make a decision before other dragons have had a chance to make an offer, or say they will pull their offer if they don't say yes on the spot. Investment negotiations never happen like that in the real world.

Bro I used to study in an English school in Kuwait and one of my science professors used this in Physics class. It's crazy to find out he was the creator behind it the whole time. I always assumed it was a makeshift device by the prof.

Often the valuation of a business is way off, and the dragons will always make that very clear. Unless… the valuation is way too LOW. Not a word from anyone, just trying to grab a bargain.

I thought it was a decent gamble. He described a lot more value than any of the others did, when he talked about convenience stores and Red Letter Days. Plenty of other entrepreneurs have chosen Peter in the same situation.

Make a RU-vid channel, this guy is so very much presentable in a serious yet fun way. Update: Seems like he does, but last videos were 11 years ago. Take example for youtubers like The Action Lab etc.

Very smart deduction. It would in his case be better of the options to have both of them with their contacts and connections 2 help him expand while keeping a solid standing majority in stock. Outlet stores are great 2 sell items however not as much for the entertainment he is giving. Sure back in the days we would have people in makeshift booths giving away samples and allowing you to test products however over the last 30 years or so that has minimized to doing it just 2 keep that family friendly store ideal.

Good decision. Peter's a smart guy, but this isn't a convenience store item at all and asking for 20% was either greed, arrogance, or both. I hope Nick and Sarah help this guy build a great company.

I just love how the british version of this type of show is way more chill. You don't have these crazy bidding wars of "250k for 25% of your bussiness, no 400k for 30%" just simple and to the point without extra drama. I've noticed that goes for most british shows that have US equivalents
