Jupiter is the largest planet in our solar system, known for its rapid rotation and massive storms, including the Great Red Spot, a storm larger than Earth that has persisted for centuries. Its extreme weather and lightning surpass anything experienced on our planet.
The Juno spacecraft's mission to Jupiter is unlocking the planet's secrets, revealing details about its atmosphere, magnetic fields, and potential for solid core. Juno's data is crucial for understanding Jupiter's influence on our solar system, including the possibility of life on its moons and the planet's gravitational impact on Earth.
Jupiter's complexity and the ongoing discoveries by Juno highlight its role in shaping our understanding of the solar system and the potential for life beyond Earth.

Sorry to be a spoiler, but 400 mph is NOT 111 kmh. Still love your videos.

There are many inaccuracies in this video. While I applaud anything that stimulates interest in science, more effort should be taken to get the facts right

What keeps Jupiter from igniting to become a star given that it's mostly hydrogen which is flammable? Our sun burns hydrogen into helium ... for now. 😀
@jimmartin156
@jimmartin156 2 месяца назад
Hydrogen and any other element cannot burn without an oxidiser. The sun does not burn hydrogen. It fuses hydrogen atoms into helium.
@shannonwalker6944
@shannonwalker6944 Месяц назад
Hydrogen is flammable in the presence of oxygen. But there is no oxygen in space. The sun makes light and heat by, under intense heat and pressure, pushing hydrogen atoms together to make helium plus energy. This is due to a difference in the binding energies in the nuclei of hydrogen and helium as a result of the strong force. Jupiter, although huge when compared to Earth is nowhere large enough to support fusion because the needed compression is dependent upon gravitational attraction. Many more Jupiters would be needed to reach the mass needed for the gravitational compression needed to ignite a fusion reaction.

@@shannonwalker6944 That makes a lot of sense to me; I wondered about Jupiter being too small. What got me was, I didn't think about the oxygen needed. Kind of embarrassing. Thank you for your comment. 😀 So Jupiter would need to be much, much bigger to have the gravitational force required to compress the hydrogen to ignition.
