Black holes are dark, matter-devouring balls of gravity. Most of them are so far away that we don't need to worry about them. But not this one. Meet Gaia BH1. This enormous black hole sits right outside our Solar System. More specifically, 1,600 light-years away from us.

About the supermassive black holes, theres a teory: basically, in the past when the universe was smaller matter was more concentrated and these giant stars, called Quasi - Stars, were born: the were as massive as half of the solar system; it carried on growing, and the mass of its core was too concentrated, so it went supernova and formed a black hole: but the star was too massive (about 3 times the solar system) and survived its own supernova: now it had a black hole inside of itself. The black hole began expanding and the star started growing too: it was as big as 30 times the solar system! But the black hole lurking inside it started "eating" it, and it completely consumed the star, and thats how supermassive black holes are formed. Again, thats just a theory, but i think its cool!
@idofx8722
@idofx8722 Год назад
One of my favorite theories is the one (can’t remember its name so lets just call it the coin-hole theory) where the universe is basically just sitting inside of a gargantuan black hole and matter simply flows into our universe resulting in expansion while smaller black holes simply feed that matter back into another universe via their singularities which is then redistributed into our universe or potentially another universe that may exist inside another large black whole. Of course since none of these theories can be proved as of this time it just makes our universe all the more intriguing.
@jacobcoopermogil2683
@jacobcoopermogil2683 Год назад

If I understand correctly, the gravitational pull of a blackhole is so strong that light cannot radiate, and that is why we see it as a black hole. But what does a blackhole actually consist of? Is it some kind of planet but with a huge gravitational pull , or should I compare it with something else ? You probably already covered that once , but can not find the video !
@Rayzus360
@Rayzus360 Год назад
I know scientists will probably never find out what happens in a black hole but I feel like it has so much energy it tears through the space-time continuum and leads to alternate realities. However, this could be dangerous and exciting if proven to be true
@alvaroszi
@alvaroszi Год назад
"What does a black hole actually consist of?" In a simplified answer, you can think of a black hole as 3 basic layers. 1. Whatever is orbiting around it (the shiny disks that you'd see in a picture of a black hole) 2. The event horizon, which is the point of no return. Black holes are black because not even light can escape from them because the gravitational pull is too strong, the event horizon is the point at which the gravitational pull is so strong that light can't escape it, so if you were to go into a black hole, reaching the event horizon is the place at which (from our current understanding) you'd never be able to go back. 3. The singularity, which is somewhere "deeper" than the event horizon, the more massive the black hole is, the "deeper" this is. We don't really know much about what the singularity is (or if it even is something), but based on our understanding of physics, this is the part of the black hole where our math and physics break down, but from our understanding it is a place where matter is compressed to an infinitely small point. "Is it some kind of planet but with a huge gravitational pull" We don't know exactly what they "are", but we know how they occur, and they occur after a very massive star dies and the remainings of it collapse on its own gravity, creating the blackhole. They do have huge gravitational pulls tho you're right, given a black hole of a certain size/diameter, there is nothing in the universe of the same size/diameter of that black hole with a bigger gravitational pull. "should I compare it with something else ?" Depends on what you want to compare, they do exercise a gravitational pull, just like anything with mass. But at the same time they are really bizarre "objects" (if you want to call them that way) and the way they break our understanding of physics and math can't be compared to any other object. But you can also say they are the big brothers of neutron stars, which are born in the same way as a black hole is, with the difference that neutron stars don't collapse on their own gravity, they are just a step away from it if you wanna call it that way, so in terms of "extremes" you can probably think of neutron stars as the "closest" things to black holes.

How cool would it be if when our galaxy collides with the other one a whole new one is formed. One in which more planets are discovered maybe even a new earth. And imagine all the new stars and constellations you’d be able to see at night. What if this collision rebirths earth and surviving animals/humans are living in a new world with other species animals and plants. Or finding new life on potential other planets.

damn, and I thought our sun was the strongest in our universe... It's literally a newborn baby compared to any black holes.

There has to be something further out there. Beyond these. That doesn’t want us to ever reach. We still got millions of years left of technology to make. Like imagine what would could do right now and add a million years to that

One of my friends (RU-vid Channel Astronomy Odyssey) told me months ago that Pheonix A became the largest black hole ever discovered. Glad more people know about it now.

I had this theory we revolve around the sun as our sun revolves around the center of our galaxy being a black hole. By the time we reach it, it will be so big that it will not do any damage and we will be transferred into another dimension of space and time.

The closes black hole to us is probably the one outside the solar system and it's less than 1500 light years
@GigaHuxpin

In the year 4058 a.d. this black hole will have attracted our solar system to it. Dormant is not a variable that can constitute a status of a "black hole" as all black holes in essence are of such a high gravitational pull in on itself that not even light can escape it. So this black hole is also by definition so powerful we can't see the light be expunged from it's depths because the matter of which it was doesn't exist anymore. If not then we have found a wormhole transportation system to another part of the galaxy, or even of another galaxy.

The center black hole of our galaxy being 4 million ☉ is definitely 2 times bigger than the 2nd biggest black hole ever discovered with 66billion ☉.
