I've learned some things about Anonymous at security classes; some of them do some very good work for people, and often for very little in return. And frankly, exposing scientology for the cult they are, that was good work.

Why don't they use their power to find lost children, end human trafficking, release hostages, etc. Just pick a fight with an organization that everyone knows is fruit loops. No logic whatsoever. Not to mention, they refer to themselves as legion as if they fancy themselves demonic. I'm out.

HOLY PEANUTE they really do that? I now understand another comment I read more above, man that's crazy this is why I don't like cult behaviors; it potentially escalates to straight up breaking the law and ethical rules; in specifics abuse. I'm really usually skeptical of cults I hear many of them, especially the guy who drank poison and gave everybody poison, or the other who started owning other people kids and wives literally traficating weapon to the point even swat team had to be deployed, and a tank, I think. like there just so much of people doing insane stuff, and its really just a hierarchy super seeding everybody thoughts; crazy tbh, ive heard about many cults, it's one of the reasons I actually hate cult behavior in specific usually in terms of blindness and manipulation; especially when it comes to intentional malicious Mal information. it's so much chaos; especially to people who are born into it, where they just don't know anything except being misinformed, really sad tbh

THey really are just a filthy cult made by the rich to exploit laws meant to protect religion to shield themselves and their money. The fact they try to label being called out a "hate crime" is proof of this. These aren't some poor lower class citizens getting beaten in the street, they aren't getting denied jobs, and they aren't being especailly bothered even at the height of the protests. But they even mobalized the FBI and tried to sue regular people into oblivion just for calling them out. The religion is legitimately not even real. It has no real basis before it just kinda spawned amoung the rich and powerful and even it's so called beliefs are pretty nonsensical even when compared to any other religion. It absolutely reeks of a front made by the rich to use for their convenience. Even the name is a pretty blatant attempt to make itself appear "more legitimate" by invoking the name of science.

That's why anonymity scares them. Who do they sue? Their opponent doesn't (legally) exist without a name to stick it to. They are powerless in the face of anonymity, and that terrifies them. But that terror is infinitesimal compared to the terror they will feel when they stand in the court of the One who wrote the laws of the universe, who holds the sole authority to banish them to Hell without hope of release.

I went to dozens of irl protests in San Francisco in front of the org. Some of the most fun I’ve ever had in that city. And I made life long friends with a number of fellow anon, and also saved one person from the cult (who later joined our ranks). Funnier still was that I had no idea what 4chan was at the time. I went to a couple in Philly. They didn't let us wear masks the first time (there was a law against covering your face like that in public or so I heard) but the second time the cops allowed us to wear them since we were so peaceful the first time. In the second protest a bunch of us piled into a U-Haul and got dropped off in front of the scientology building. Fun stuff. I feel a bit bad now, as we were in front of some store (we were across the street from the Scientologists) and the manager kept coming out to tell us to leave. They got zero business that day for sure. Hello to the handful of people who grouped up and went to Subway at some point during as well, I think there were about eight of us. It for sure feels like a cringe moment looking back, but at the time it was a hell of a lot of fun.

True however it does also get in the way of the real heroes. Anonymous is NOT made up of military experts or soldiers or law enforcement and as such go outside the lines of what’s right and wrong and have NO jurisdiction anywhere on earth. They have no knowledge of law or how to properly apprehend a criminal. It’s also important to remember that despite some of the good they’ve done they ARE still a criminal organization and are actually cyber terrorists. They made money illegally for a while. They’ve done some good but it’s also impossible to say if these are even the real “anonymous”. There are literally thousands of fake “Anonymous” accounts and groups. The Facebook account isn’t even likely run by them. Just little fanboys playing at being heroes with no expertise in the matter. It’s dangerous allowing civilians to conduct their own law enforcement crime prevention. They could get hurt or wind up hiring others. I have some respect for anonymous but it’s not endless, they do cross the line sometimes and fall on my bad side. They will probably have Tia sneer for their crimes at some pint soon, having said that good for them to hit Scientology. Respect for that. Fuck that cult shit. Scientology should be left crippled and broke until nothing is left. Cults should be shutdown.

I remember I was an assistant civil engineer on the Waters edge complex .... which is one block south one block west of the Scientology building in downtown Clearwater... If you've ever been to Clearwater, in order to get to Clearwater Beach, there's a road called alternate 19... and there are a slew of small motels up and down this particular stretch of highway from Curlew Road south to State Road 60.... over the years the church of Scientology has picked up these hotels, and I'm assuming when you become a member you move in to one of the hotels that's furthest away and as you work your way up, you move closer and closer to the main Scientology building.... Which if you have ever commuted early in the morning driving down, alternate 19 you'll see a ton of individuals dressed exactly the same black shoes, black pants, white shirt, black tie... working way further south... The Scientology building is only religious building that I can recall that has armed guards on patrol ... and this is prior to 2008... I was working on that building in 2006... It's more the case for individuals acting alone. Once you have an individual in a group, especially if all members of that group are united through their beliefs, intention, and at least to some extent dress (e.g. a mask), the individual can be lost and subsumed by the crowd. As soon as they are a member of a crowd, they will conform to the crowd. I'm actually not sure which is more powerful for getting someone to do something that they would never normally do - give them anonymity, or give them a group to conform to. Both are very powerful

At one point 2/3 of the my friends were people I'd met through the Chanology protests. A few of us kept them up monthly for 3 years. I went on holiday to a city I'd never been to before, thousands of km away, and randomly ran into a bunch of anons who were handing out flyers. We all spontaneously decided to move from the city to the street outside the local Scientology building. I wasn't there 5 minutes before a Scientology guy in a suit came out and greeted me by name lol. These days their main tactic is to use their front organisations to recruit vulnerable people because we ruined their reputation so thoroughly. So they try putting brochures in all the nearby shops for their "Drug Free World" front which just funnels addicts to their Narconon front.

heck yeah. I went to some project chanology stuff! My organizer was a real nice dude, he rented a UHAUL to unload us all in front of the philly building (so they wouldn't see our license plates, edited to explain that, since people might not get why that was a thing) and bought masks for everyone. My parents still got threatening letters though, p sure we had a plant, they were really persistent about getting into our IRC chats and sneaking into social connections. Those old music videos of the protests using Still Alive are so corny but they get me all up in my feelings, it's the last time 4chan felt like fun.

at 8:54 I spit out my milk, I was like "bro how you get our logs???" Again, great video Kira! Between chanology and Lulzsec there was a whole bunch of other Ops that grew Anonymous into a MOVEMENT, the first Op Iran being one of them, it's where the playbook to Anon Ops was really hammered into shape, replicated even today in other Ops. We got "blessings" from The Pirate Bay for Iran Ops when they changed their banner logo to bring attention to the cause, calling it "The Persian Bay." The conspiracies that spun from that gave us a good laugh when people claimed the TPB was in FULL CONTROL of Anonymous; we let them run with it for the lulz! The first Op Iran was the defacto op that really shifted Anon to take up more political causes involving injustices! There is a lot to skim in a few minutes but thank you for giving our stories a spotlight; too many people want to begin in 2011 / 2012 but for us in the trenches it was all 2008!

While im honest to god always in for a good old "These suckers up there are all corrupt, no exeptions" i see absolutely no similarities between the actions of antifa and the actions of anonymous. And if your right and one led to the other (which i highly doubt) its a major downgrade too.

What people don't realize is that there are a number of hacker groups around the world who are independent of each other but all still kind of fly that flag of anonymous and they all have methods of communicating and working together when it suits the individual groups. This works in the benefit of the hackers because if everyone from multiple groups is claiming themselves as Anonymous then it kind of protects your parent group from exposure. These groups have worked together numerous times for a variety of different things like as the video showed hunting Isis as well as more notably a massive campaign Against Child predators which was widely successful and inevitably resulted in a ton of arrests and the shutdown of at least a few child trafficking Networks even though it is unfortunately still just a drop in the bucket and these groups do still work together from time to time but they are far less public about their operations because there were a few that went South because of that problem that was explained where everybody and anybody can claim to be anonymous and what kept happening was that people who were not joining to see it succeed or causing operations to fail which at the same time strengthen the connection of the hacker collectives to work together and sort of remove the need for outside help or interference. They have done a ton of different operations under the banner of anonymous that you will probably never hear about

I absolutely agree with everything you said. It’s sad (but not too sad) but true (so very true). I always saw the world very much thru the lens of predator/prey, like people are fundamentally wolves OR they are fundamentally sheep (or tigers and squirrels if you prefer). At some point in my teens I extended this metaphor to include an archetype that protected & preserved other creatures rather than exploit and consume them, a character-type analogous to a shepherd. After my first kid was born, it dawned on me that there are not altruistic shepherds-that’s actually one of those like jumbo shrimp. Or maybe it’s more like the old Hollywood trope about the hooker with a heart of gold, or the maverick politician running for office- they’re a myth, they never existed, like Andy Griffith’s America. See, shepherd is a job not a core character in your life’s play, and certainly not any actual person you’ve ever known. People are too dynamic for such a flat ideal to be applicable. Worst yet, the only reason anyone has ever spent weeks in the wild keeping 1 eye on dozens of animals, and the other eye on dozens of other animals (for very different reasons) is so they can feed on the animals under their care in a slower way, more like a leech, so you don’t eat it all up and have to keep hunting over and over. A sheep that can’t be sheared or milked, is dinner. So shepherds are actually just the greediest wolves of all. I lived for 15+ years under this flawed premise that the shitty world was what caused good people to turn shitty eventually. But now I have a pretty good idea that it’s all the shitty people that make the world so incredibly shitty, they literally blot out the less shitty people like an eclipse ( like a cosmic double whammy of shitty causality inevitably concluding in shitty effects that ripple thru space/time like throwing an existential rock into the open sewer that is our reality. It’s been a decade since I cut ties with everyone but the 3 friends I felt I still had. Within 3 years of that 2 of the last 3 had died. In a very real way all friendships are destined to end the same way- 1 friend dying and the other living long enuff to see their 1 constant abandon them, arguably when they’re most needed, to continue living the only way anyone can after such a loss: by carrying on best we can, by surviving which literally means barely living thru something. Believe me being alive is hardly living. It’s more like “livin” (in that it’s not quite “living”). But I digress. All I wanted to say really was you’re not alone, and thanks for the truth.
