I am interested in trying boots for my Arabian. I think he would definitely spook if something was hanging off his foot. If they lose a Scoot Boot, does it hang there by that purple gaitor? I can just imagine my horse going, nope, and freaking out. Does the boot hang on there by that strap if it pops off? Do you have any training videos on desensitizing a horse to a partially off boot? I can't think of anything I could rig that would approximate a partially hanging, flopping boot to work on in a pen to get him used to that, besides just getting another boot to beat up. Do you have suggestions?

I gallop full speed on my trail rides and go on extremely ruff terrain like mud, rock, and un hillsides with no trail but the one we make. I’m deciding weather or not to make my horse barefoot and just getting boots he can ride for my trail rides.

Have you ever gotten the strap caught on any underbrush or hidden trash (like a part of an old wire fence)? Would it break if it was tangled?

The straps are designed to break if they are loaded enough. So yes, if one were to get caught on something, it would break before causing harm to the horse. That being said, we've covered miles and miles of trails in our Scoots and never had a problem with that, even when bush-wacking off trail!
