I have never had to remove the nut on the pulley. I have been able to compress the clutch by hand, use the belt to hold it open, and slip it over the front pulley. It takes 5 minutes.
On this design the starter is in the way of slipping the belt off the variator unfortunately. So the nut and variator has to come off. Not a big deal. Wish I had the other design though. Would be super simple.
The scooter looks like and is in the same shape as the work was done. For all beginners: Look for another video in RU-vid. There are good ones to find.
Man I'm waiting on my belts right now I'm going to try that I can't be spending money on a impact drill right now I'll let you know how it goes. Fingers crossed
Mine's running just fine I put a new belt on it now it won't barely stay cranked I have zero power and it won't throttle up with a belt on it I take the belt off it does just fine why would it do that
Hi Moped MeDICKS - Does using an impact wrench mean that you don't have to use a variator blocker? I can't take my variator nut off because it's too tight and I can't source a variator blocker for my older scooter to stop the whole variator spinning when I try to take the nut off with my socket wrench.
I jammed a small screwdriver beetween the gear teeth and the starter, then I was able to put enough torque on the nut to remove it. I didnt damage anything but im sure I was taking my chances.
I learned that the hard way cuz some guy sold me the wrong belt long case and short is a differents if the belt is to short on a long case it will not work so to sove any buddy problem no sov 😂
hey got a question do I have to line up the teeth or not on the part that you said be carefull to line up your teeth...the only way to line it up I have to pull the top small teeth off a bit and line it on the big one then It would be loose from inside the small one..thanks
Taking the clutch housing off is totally unnecessary, just gently pull the inner pulley half towards you and slip it on. Taking the starter plate off on the left is dependent on whether the starter gear gets in the way - yours looked as though it did. I know it's an old video, but you need to work on your camera technique and get someone else to do the voice over.
