Got an 85 with 3 in a tree... Luv it... Got new tires. Done brakes, new master cylinder, cap, rotor, wires, plugs, thermostat. Will do the fuel pump & water pump this spring. 36K miles now.
I've seen 3 on the tree and back in the day I used to convert vans to a 4 speed like you have but I've never seen a E100 factory install especially with a 300-6, interesting.
The only manual trans vans I ever saw were column shift but I heard from friends who worked at dealerships back when they were new that they did build some with floor shift.
I remember as a teen in the mid to late 90's seeing an Econoline 150 with a manual on the floor. Not sure if it had the I6 or the V8 or if it was a 4 or 5 speed. It believe the van was from the mid to late 80's. All the other Econoline I've seen were automatics.
@@beeterolds My father has a 79 Econoline he stores at my house, it's a E-100. It has the V8 302. That may be a unicorn too because the insurance calls it/assumes it's a E150 because it has a V8. My dad could never convince them that it's a E-100. On the owner's manual, the only engine they list for the E-100 is the I6. My grandfather bought it used in 1980 with that same 302 it has today, and we are pretty sure the previous owner didn't upgrade from the I6 to the V8. It must be a rarer option, or they put the wrong badge at the factory. Do you think that was a rare option?
