In this video Matt and Pete are back at fellow owner builder neighbors/friends Andy and Elizabeth's in progress Scoria bag home. This is officially what 1 year of solid progress looks like!
We know of around 10 Scoria bag homes here in Crestone... and don't know if there's really anymore out there. Hardly any youtube videos on them either. Great type of alternative/natural build and beats Earthbags for the R-value all day long!

I would love to know what they use for the automatic venting system in their greenhouse!

I checked and this is from Andy... Gigavent. Its like a bees wax piston that expands as it heats up. Same as are typical on the growdomes around here, although those are lighter duty. The gigavent is the burliest choice and can lift like 120 lbs (can't remember exact number) but more than the weight of the hinged window. Those windows are hinged manual venting skylights (cheaper) and i just took them apart and removed the manual crank opening.

Why not Rockwool. We did Rockwool in our ceiling for our Strawbale home.

Rockwool is good too but spray foam is more of a vapor barrier too and more air tight
