What's your favourite Omicron 9 episode? I liked the one where the peoples of the outer rings of Quadrant 36 rebelled and quashed the evil Decktookins.
BOTH GOOD CHOICES! ...but me, while it might be a strange choice, I have to say I liked the one about the cat uprising. It seemed silly on the surface, but I really liked the open questions at the end about how much of it actually happened, and whether at least one member of the main trio is really who he thinks he is... ...or, hang on, was that just my fanfic?
Legend has it that the title of 'BBC sound design team, hardest working member" was shared for 17 consecutive years between a Putney and an especially resonant set of Coconuts which were insured for 100,000 pounds with Lloyds of London. .
The new season is just a new variant of the original Omicron 9 series with a different cast but it still has a very infectious story line. Worth watching!
I’m so glad that you went mores the sound design Avenue with this one to truly showcase what at awesome odd duck it is, i honestly can’t see exploring the same results with software.
There's just nothing else quite like Alex Ball on the internet... Very entertaining, extremely high quality, always informative. I live for this kind of content. We are forever grateful for your existence.
Brill as ever, Alex! Thanks for this! Just got back from seeing Heaven 17 at Sheffield City Hall and Martin Ware had his old babies with him on stage - full Roland System 100 and Jupiter 4 and a Korg 700S - wonderful!
Nice! Well done. Sounds different from my VCS3 and in a very nice way. This one is gonna be on my list for sure. Great demo tune also, I like how you put the sound and workflow in context.
Loved the cheesy 80s comp, I got images of low budget sci-fi special effects and the Miami Vice Captain calling for help while his scantily clad crew ran about. As far as the synth I can imagine spending countless hours having fun fussing with it. Sounds amazing.
You're one of the few demoers I still watch and this one shows why. You just have so much fun with what you do and don't take yourself seriously at all. I shed a tear laughing at some parts (the part where you were doing the voice in the ring mod and started laughing).
@@AlexBallMusic Sounds like you've been watching a lot of Omicron 9. I remember the episode where "Cap" Captain Dankberg learned to "lighten up" from the Nosfastasez People. Good times.
But you were cool with the Gonorrheans being introduced at the beginning of season 2? Okay...Besides, the Chlamydians weren't the problem with season 3, that's a hack premise. Where it went wrong was that whole parralel Universe thing, where good and evil were inverted. Hitler as a good guy who bought a millenia of peace? Come one! Pure cliche.
I don't know how. But I missed the season finale for season 6. I can't believe it's already at season 7 already! I feel like just yesterday was the pilot episode when they first boarded the ship.
The Chlamydians and the Clapazoids were introduced in the episode “Picked up a dose” which was written under a pseudonym by a 70s porn producer from Amshterdam
That was freaking AWESOME!!!! And I love the way you put everything together. If I close my eyes I would think it was really a soundtrack to a sci-fi movie. Very well done dude!
All my friends thought Babylon 5 was the "more intelligent" series, but I always stayed true to Omicron 9, especially the hilarious Chlamyidians episode ("Why yes Doctor, it *is* an especially ripe one!" Still crackes me up)
Awesome work as always Alex i really enjoy that you go deeper into the synths. And the composition is so Sci Fi that its made for a series that doesn’t exist ... YET. It doesn’t get More sci fi than that.
After seeing your Sci fi video I had to subscribe to your channel. Really good creation you put down. And that Syntrax is the best. I want one in my arsenal. Glad I found this video. Be cool and keep creating.
I made a CD a few years back that I titled soundtrack for a movie that doesn't exist and a few years ago I decided that's the kind of music I make, music for movies never made. :) Your title made me smile.
Everything about this was great. But I loved the alarm sound especially. :) Reminds me of when I accidentally created a realistic alarm/alert sound like that on a GEM WX2+ in high school, digital workstation with minimal editing but did have filter cutoff and resonance offset parameters, resonance cranked on a Slap Bass preset and bam, bass sound gone, realistic alarm sound made.
Great video. I’m a novice, but I picked one up last year after seeing Hainbach’s video. It is a lot of fun and I like the digital matrix because it eliminates the need for patch cords, and has the three signal levels for better control. That’s my favorite for just making noise.
Brilliant as usual, Alex. My only complaint is this makes it harder to pick up a used SYNTRX on the cheap someday. As always, satisfied Alex (as when saying 'Omicron 9) is the best Alex. Your videos rock!
I have a feeling Syntrx may go _up_ in value on the second hand market as they're pretty special. Like the Korg ARP 2600 FS. Maybe I'll be wrong, but I certainly won't let this one go! Glad you enjoyed Omicron 9, thanks for the on going support David, much appreciated.
I wanted a Synthi but the buggers cost like $20,000, so I dropped all $5700 of my fun money on a big Moog project. …and then discovered the Syntrx. This is all I need to be happy in this life.
Sounds like a great concept for a show, looking forward to the serialisation. The rate we're going it won't take till 2094 for the planet to be uninhabitable. Great sound design and music as ever Mr Ball.
My fav episode is where they land on a parallel Earth where the Radiophonic workshop was never shut down and they still have every episode of Dr Who on blu-ray
