SCORPION: The Fastest Mobile Mortar System in the World
Check out this live-fire demonstration of our SCORPION Mobile Mortar System. It is a fully digital, automated mortar system that features a Shoot & Scoot capability able to fire 8 rounds in 2 minutes. The SCORPION shown here is set atop a Toyota Landcruiser, but SCORPION can be mounted on any 1.5 ton truck. It also features a “non-seating” baseplate - designed to NOT dig into the ground - enabling two key advantages: 1) recoil forces are taken off the vehicle, and 2) a 24-second departure; therefore NOT allowing enemy forces to back azimuth your location.
Other Features:
• Fires both 81mm and 120mm (barrels are interchangeable)
• From parking vehicle to rounds down range in 45 seconds
• Drive away (after last shot) in 24 seconds
• Eliminates the recoil effect caused by shooting on a vehicle.
• Fire Control System (FCS) knows its location as well as its ssigned targets, including a ballistic calculation system for multiple munition types.
• FCS can be operated from inside the cab and/or from outside the vehicle via tablet.

Lightweight and can be deployed by helicopter or other aircraft.

I doubt this channel belongs to the company that produces this system and if it does that would be shocking, because it is just a typical shitty military tech channel that uses a shitty text to voice software to read badly written texts. This one sounds as if it is saying "motor" instead of "mortar" and when it says "capable of delivering 8 mortars in under 2 minutes." that makes no sense. It doesn't deliver "mortars", it delivers "mortar shells", so whoever wrote that text doesn't speak English properly.

@@amazin7006 they have stuff that mitigates recoil like gyro jet style for example, that being said this system doesn’t need to work for extended periods of time although that would be nice, the recoil of even a basic mortar isn’t THAT bad and there’s no shortage of trucks and stuff to throw it on. Worst comes to worst just package it with a recoil kit for the truck. The computer could also calibrate for the variables you mentioned pretty easy too.

Hey Global Ordnance, word to the wise this should have been an automatic mortar system with a next generation way to reload it. Run a tube alongside your mortar or a 2B9 loader. Basically anything you can do to get this system to level an area before dudes go to ground. Alternatively you can size up your system a fair bit, modify the support A LOT, and run a snub 155 that's meant to only fire PGK rounds. I see what you did here but even a traditional mortar is pretty mobile, and I feel like the speeds you're working with aren't actually preventing direct return fire at closer proximity; which is basically the only thing justifying it's existence because farther away you have time to set up a mortar just fine. And on the offensive everybody just rather have artillery support. So you're in this weird niche right now where the only people who need this system are basically doing very rapid attacks on previously scouted positions, and because those attacks only last like three or four minutes before retreating this system can't justify it's existence versus like a conventional mortar without putting fire down faster and harder. I rather have a 2B9 on my side; why don't you guys try making a super affordable ADIM??? I'm not trying to detract from the value of infantry when I tell you that not enough people care about the possibility of counter battery on a mortar system, it just isn't happening. Make the weapon itself more dangerous and figure out if you can mesh the fire control system with a modern data link as a proof of concept to potential customers. I get your trying to get this thing to mesh with ammunition stockpiles at a fair price point, but this middle of the road shit isn't even bang for buck. TLDR: Make it either faster or more accurate then prove it can function with new age datalinks. Keep in mind whoever tests your shit is going to run it into the ground before they buy any meaningful amount too. Good luck to you guys at Global.

I like the way this system works. It looks relatively simple, and not too difficult to service or procure replacement parts for it. At least at the first glance. Iam really wondering how much does this system cost per unit in ready to use configuration like in the demo? It looks like a great “self propelled pocket artillery” for any company or perhaps a platoon level commander. Having this kind of firepower at any moment at your disposal is always a great thing and can really boost firepower of a smaller units. With current drone prevalence on the battlefield it can really become super effective weapon to stall an enemy advance.

@@LabiaLickernah, no question. Just agreeing that they are indeed the best choice for their robustness and global parts supply. I was also musing the fact that in a war zone different equipment has an expected lifespan before it’s destroyed by enemy action, accidents, wear and tear, etc. I was wondering out loud what that might be for this class of artillery. Given the range you might expect mortars to operate at they would have to be pretty close to the noisey end of things.

It as an artillery system, not a freaken direct fire gun or vehicle. No country has fragmentation protection for a mortar so I have no idea what crack you are smoking. If someone can shoot your mortars with direct fire, its position was untenable regardless of fragmentation protection, and that bodes true for any kind of artillery. You seem very nitpicky, I think you just want to hate on this thing rather than acknowledge the utility of a mortar system that doesn't have to be lugged out of and back into a truck by hand (that also has easy ammo access as well as AIMING IT FOR YOU)

to aim at a target, you need special software with special calculation algorithms linked to GPS, which calculates the degree of rotation of the gun on hydraulics or servos, taking into account the type and weight and power of the projectile, and a spy drone is required to monitor the situation on the battlefield online, which is from the tablet transmits data directly to the CPU of the mortar, so the mortar will automatically aim at the target after you have selected the type of projectile and target, so you can do an almost exact hit on the target, yes, almost, because this is all without taking into account weather conditions and wind, and even one the barrel is not enough, it would be possible to install several different barrels for different calibers, because there are often captured weapons for a mortar on the battlefield. The idea is certainly very deadly, and most likely underestimated.

But u still need someone to put the mortar in tho if u had a afv 432 with a mortar base in the back it’s all ready set up,just need to set the cords and u can fire faster than that ad well and u don’t have to get out of the 432 everyone is inside and the rounds

This is meant to be a much lighter, more nimble, and theoretically cheaper alternative to an AFV 432. The AFV is a tracked armored vehicle that comes with all the maintencance and logistical requirements you would expect. This thing is a toyota pickup truck with ammo racks and mortar strapped to the back. I assume the only reason it has to deploy outside the vehicle is to have a stable base for firing and not immediately break the Toyotas suspension when firing. On paper the AFV is superior, but this is easier to get into the fight when and where you need it.
