Lack of grease Does Not lead to a catastrophic Failure. We use a hardened brass bushing on the pivot points of our beams. Replacing a Fowled bushing is not a fun job. The Scotchman iron workers are serviceable and re-buildable in almost every respect. But yes, grease your machine on a regular grease schedule and save yourself the hassle.
