This fascinating hoard of treasure was discovered during excavations on St Ninian’s Isle, Shetland, in 1958 and dates from the 8th century AD. In this video, Dr Martin Goldberg, Principal Curator of Medieval Archaeology and History collections at National Museums Scotland, explores the unique find.
Part of the Glenmorangie Research Project, Scotland’s Early Silver, exploring the use of silver in Late Roman and Early Medieval Scotland (AD 300-900).

I'm reading a book about the history of the Vikings. It mentions the Monks hiding their valuables when they were pre-warned of the Vikings coming. So I came to You Tube to see what I could find about it. Very pleased to watch this quality video. Thank you.
