Scotsman CU1526 ice maker descaling, cleaning, and sanitizing

My first attempt at cleaning a two year old Scotsman CU1526 ice maker using the manual. We have it at our house and this is my first time to descale and sanitize it. I used the Scotsman branded descaling chemical (phosphoric, citric acid).
I did not know where the water level sensor is (appears to be an effort to reach it) so I didn't remove it to clean it. My video on adding the sanitizer (1 oz of bleach in 20 oz of water) didn't save, so I don't have that included, but I reference it in the video.
all in all the Scotsman ice maker is put together very well - I recommend it for home use when you have a high ice demand (we have a pool/outdoor kitchen, so the kids and their friends utilize this ice maker a lot).
exercise caution using the descaling agent (acids), especially protect your eyes, and when the machine is running and the lid is off - I was careful to watch what wires I was near when the machine was plugged in.

A simple trick you can do is put a plastic bag in the ice been so when your dirty scale ice comes out you can just pick ip the plastic bag and not dirty the good ice in the been

Best practice is to unload it though, in most brands' cleaning instructions they tell you to empty the book before you even start the initial descaling process anyway.

Hi. I need to replace the water float sensor. I’ve been looking for a video on how to do that. If someone has found one please send me the link to it. Thanks!

I looked on-line for the 19-0664-01 solution, but only found the 19-0653-01. I assume it's the concentrated version. If that's the case what proportions would I use to dilute it?

Did you ever find the water level sensor? I had trouble locating it also.

It's in the compartment right below the harvest assist solenoid.

Yes - at the 2:39 mark looking in the top - it is the top device that has a few wires going to it. You can squeeze the clips together and pull it up - that is the water level sensor.

This machine ran perfectly until Sept 2017 and we flooded during Tropical storm Harvey. Machine was moved to the curb after sitting in 3’ of water a few days. I ended up buying the smaller version of this at our new house.

And that's for when the de-scale light is on???
@Hoodratstuff15
@Hoodratstuff15 6 лет назад
The de-scale light is on a 6 month timer. The machine cannot know it is dirty. It's best to break it down and see if it is actually dirty and clean as needed.
@noochishere4572

yes. But you can assume every 3 to 6 months you will need to descale and clean.

How do you re Move the water trough
@noochishere4572
@noochishere4572 3 года назад
So you mean the sump or the distributor? The distributor has some plastic clips that hold it in place. The sump that holds the pump isn’t removable without taking apart the entire unit.

Just got mine installed but it keeps giving a 3 code have you had any issues with yours

That is slow water fill. It could be that you have very low water pressure, your float is stopped up, your filter is stopped up or the water level sensor has failed. In other words, you either are actually getting water to the machine too slowly, OR you are getting enough volume, but the machine doesn't know it.

No I haven't had any issues like that.
