I love versatility, this hybrid release by Scott archery is just that. Can be used as a tool to trasition or for the year around archer.

this is a great release! there is room for improvement on the amount of travel adjustment. I wish you could shorten the travel from click to FIRE... Just a bit too much movement for my liking. I really like the large two finger trigger. It allows me to pull with only my middle finger on the outside scoop of the trigger.. Middle finger is not as trained at fine motor movements as our pointer fingers are. Which helps to acheive a surprise much more often.

I have this Scott Verge, spot hog wise guy (both wrist straps), spot hog whipper snapper thumb, Scott pursuit thumb, nock 2 it thumb and just ordered the Stan onne x click thumb. I feel for a wrist strap style this breaks off clean for me without trigger punches like most wrist straps….. this is great release in my opinion for target panic or trigger punching guys who hunt with wrist straps! I tend to punch trigger on wrist straps and went to thumb but nothing beats wrist straps for hunting in my opinion. I ALWAYS have a backup thumb activated release in my backpack cause lost release one time Elk hunting 12 miles from camp.

Ordered one based on this review. I didn’t know this release existed. I have used handhelds for years, but I find I have forearm tension and a twisted D loop, which is normal I think. If I had no tension in my hand the release would literally be pulled out. Hoping this will allow me to draw with mainly back muscles and a relaxed hand/forearm. We shall see. Thanks for the great reviews!

It’s an interesting release, so hats off to Scott for innovation. It’s an index release and is fired by finger movement. It does not operate as a true pull through release, but that’s not what it is supposed to be. It has a bunch of travel, which I think is intended to slow down shot execution and prevent punching. While keeping back tension, you slowly pull the trigger with your fingers and it eventually goes off. It’s a slower, smoother process than the typical index release in my opinion and you can get an unexpected discharge. So, the time you spend with the travel somewhat mimics the time you would spend pulling a true resistance or a thumb, or rotating a hinge. For someone not ready to move to a handheld, this may be a good way to smooth and slow the shot process a bit. Yes, it can be punched, but you can do that with any index, so no reason to buy this and punch it in my opinion. I may insert the sear that has no click and then reduce travel a little and see how that feels - but that is moving toward what every other index feels like. In any event, it is worthy of a positive review in my opinion.

Nice review I would highly suggest getting a boa strap for that.. if you never tried one you really should. Personally i think it’s the best strap. It doesn’t slide,super consistent and it doesn’t stretch out when it gets wet.

I like the thought of using this also as a back tension learning aid. Question - I shoot left handed. Can this and or most index style releases be easily converted to left hand and what is the process? Scott also has a similar newer model, the S2. It has separate creep and tension adjustment. Not sure which but the Spot Hog wise guy looks nice too.

With Some of. The stuff. You review if. You dont buy a product do. You get to keep it

Traditional hunter here, if you use the back tension method during hunting does it make the clicking sound. If so seems loud. Again been out of the new stuff for awhile, so alot has changed since I've shot mechanical stuff. Lol but looking into buying a compound again. Love your takes on new bows and other stuff!

When tested that click was not nearly as loud as some of the locking mechanism on thumb releases.

Good form but I would widen my stance for a stronger foundation. Your feet are together, if the wind blows it looks like you would get blown over. Just some constructive criticism. More for novice shooters watching you that want to mimic your form. Everything else including shot execution looks great. Good video with great information.

Can the tension be adjusted? How many lbs does it take to fire?

I don't understand what's so different from this release than other trigger releases. I shoot my regular trigger release with back tension.

@@BackyardBows I shoot a Cobra Premier Heartland Bow hunter. I wrap my finger at the second knuckle and start flexing my rhomboid muscles and it fires a surprise release every time.

It’s just because you shoot with good form, realistically that’s how everyone should shoot but this is super helpful for teaching and maintaining correct form

I’m confused on how this works! How can I change the settings so it will go off when I pull that trigger? I want this release for the two finger trigger but I mostly hunt and just want the thing to go off just don’t understand how to change the settings idk anything about back tension beacuse I shoot fine without punching

U can force the release which is tech punching through the click

Yeah it feels very similar to a trigger but when you pair it with how you would release a hinge it’s a lot better. I will say though even just using it as a trigger it feels hella solid

I don’t understand how an unexpected shot is a better shot.i want to control my shot.
@BackyardBows
@BackyardBows Год назад
In hunting I would say I always want to have control over the release of a shot, in competition archery shooting unexpectedly helps with overall reduction of target panic, places focus on form and aiming instead of trigger, helps reduce user error, encourages proper Bach tension, I personally would never use back tension release in the field but I know some do, but the verge I would feel comfortable putting in the field
