This explanation of all the misery of nuclear weapons is very very useful. I could not imagine on the large scale what are the consequences… But in my idea and thoughts ……..Mankind is crazy enough to destroy the planet.. But I also think of “Mother Earth “ And then I think ‘Mother Earth will response also, in super heavy earthquakes, or tsunamis., typhoons. And so on, just to prevent this nucleair disaster.. Because mother earth has also the own intelligents… Something like that … I know it is also wishful thinking, because the pain and the suffering of the radio-activity is so horrible..And the soil is very bad poisoned….nothing will grow anymore.. Will the warmongers survive in their bunkers for more than 12 years , under the ground, without seeing daylight?

I saw the original "On the Beach" when a kid. The catholic church recommended against it, and I was a catholic school student, but my mother wanted us to see it, so we went anyway. That caused waves.

I understand that as an American, it is hard to swallow the bitter pill of justice. Namely, if a rapist or murderer after committing their heinous acts were not punished, would Mr. Scott not demand justice? And if instead of one person, we put the state of the United States with such millions of charges, would America be spared justice???

It’s very sobering to hear Scott talking about having to take yourself out and not suffer due to radiation poisoning. Sadly I have thought about that big WHAT IF and it’s horrific. Let’s hope we don’t go that far on this planet but if it happens, I guess we shall finally find out if there is after life. I leave it in Jesus’ hands because when I hit the wall and cannot go any further, I leave it to God to do the rest….. I have no other choice and I guess things happen for a reason. I just watched "On the Beach" (the 2000 remake). Long movie, but very good. What I take away from it is that old men at the end of their lives will be the ones who destroy the world, all over their own egos.

The original movie "On The Beach" (1959) is awesome. The book is brilliant AND gut wrenching. I remember it well "Duck and Cover" .... and kiss your a$$ goodbye.

I've always felt that the United States was the only country in the world that has dropped an atomic bomb, and having done it once they would be first to do it again. Sadly, it looks like we could repeat history. And I remember reading On the Beach when it first came out and seeing the movie. Everyone would read and see On the Beach and maybe people would be more realistic about a nuclear war and its after effects. I for one would like to have a pill to escape the horror of death faced by people who are subjected to nuclear fallout.
