Ce film qu'on ne trouve pas commercialisé est une pépite , un objet rare et precieux... le grand Scott Ross , ce musicien qui nous dit que l'on doit jouer la musique comme l'air ambiant , qu'il n'y a pas de règle définitive ! Quelle leçon... c'est aussi son testament qu'il nous laisse quelques mois avant son départ. Heureux clavecin d'Assas qui connut son toucher exceptionnel... On reste nostalgique et ému en écoutant " les barricades mysterieuses" de Couperin...Merci Scott...

très émouvant. J'écoute régulièrement son intégrale de Scarlatti. Je n'avais pas vu ce film que je viens de découvrir. En ayant vu ce film je serai désormais encore plus et toujours plus saisi par la nostalgie, la tristesse du temps qui a passé.

Encore moi. C'est la nuit. Je viens de revoir le film. Toujours aussi émouvant. Tellement révélateur de ce qu'il fut. Chaque phrase, une facette de sa personnalité. Difficile de croire que nous l'ayons apprivoisé, qu'il se soit senti en confiance chez nous. Pour la liberté ? Pour le test de certaines opinions audacieuses ? Pour les orchidées, les champignons, la cuisine (''Florence, tu réalises un plat comme moi je joue une pièce au clavecin'', ce que Florence par modestie ne voudrait pas que je rappelle mais que Scott approuverait) ? Il était exceptionnellement conscient des beautés aussi bien que des cruautés de la vie. Avons été privilégiés au-delà de tout entendement. Merci à AegonCouperin pour cette présentation (distraction à 54min22 : ''Scott est mort le 13 juin bien sûr ; le film c'était en avril) avec sous-titres en anglais, facilitant ainsi la compréhension chez le plus grand nombre.

Thanks so much for posting this! I have loved music from the era of the harpsichord all my life, but not so much the harpsichord itself. I have been wandering around searching out music by the harpsichord in the hope that I may come to an understanding of it before I die. I'm an old guy so this is something rather urgent. The harpsichord, so similar to the piano in many ways is so different. The method of phrasing, articulation, the manner of expressing the melodic and rhythmic elements is so unlike the piano. Coming across Scott Ross and this video is truly enlightening. I feel as though I have inadvertently stumbled upon ingots of gold! I am a rich man today!

Really good video. Thanks for sharing! Always refreshing to hear the insights of masters in Bachs music. It's somehow sad, that he died in this year, way too early. I think he has a certain sadness in his eyes, which maybe helped him to understand the music.

As you can see from this video, he just look at himself as honest person true to the music he loved and decided to MASTER and perform! I can 100% understand his remarks about other "musicians" that only played repertoire not because they love it but because it was probably good for their career/name and they calculated that they would get fame and money from it but in reality they produced a total **** compared to this giant. It is sad that Scott Ross is not much more famous compared to other career/ego "anti-musicians" that only aimed to hit all the notes in their distorted michine-like-anti-musical vision and then quickly to jump to another $ opportunity. Luckily it is all in the recordings and every musically non-retarded person will just hear what is "ego-anti-music-done-in-least-ammount-of-time-to-impress-the-retarted-crowds" and what is the "real thing" so Scott Ross recordings are gonna be immortal in this sense.

Magnificent. But Scott forgets that (1) Gould was playing on a Piano and (2) That he was responding to Tureck and Landowska. Each interesting in their own way. Glenn was uneasy about Horowitz but never maligned him. Shame Scott never met Glenn; and that Monsaigneon never fillmed Ross. Horowitz's Scarlatti is really a comment on his Rachmaninoff. Scott ignores that. Scott's Yin Yang structural remarks are dead-on. Thanks to Genevieve for sharing!

Documento davvero eccezionale, grazie! Siamo di fronte ad un importante Artista del nostro tempo che interpreta l'Arte, quella musicale... e non solo...in questo caso, e la condivide con noi. Tuttavia non trovo riferimenti sullo strumento utilizzato per la registrazione sicuramente originale...anche un pò criticato da Ross sulla meccanica (vecchio legno...). Il suono è davvero molto bello e soprattutto "barocco"...in questo caso particolare possiamo sentire i suoni di chi lo ha costruito e suonato al tempo, almeno questo. Le opere "barocche" sono la testimonianza indiscutibile del periodo storico, come evidenziato da Ross. Ritengo che, allora come oggi, chi costruisce lo strumento insieme al compositore e all'esecutore abbia pari dignità: esistono in sinergia e gli uni dipendono dagli altri. Purtroppo spesso non accade, come in questo caso. Me ne rammarico molto!
