Scottish Daily Record's showbiz writer Bev Lyons interviews Outlander actor Sam Heughan at the British Academy Scotland Awards at Radisson Blu Hotel, Glasgow, Sunday 17 November 2013.
He is so versatile, witty, a gentleman that doesn't miss a beat..."now your a red head and that manliness about you"...Sam: "Oh really thank you, it's taken me 10 years to get that, maybe in another 10 years I'll be a fully fledged man"...what a return answer...he's great😂❤❤❤
Sam Heughan is adorable. Jamie had an innocence and a sweetness about him too, Mr. Heughan appears to have this genuine quality as well. Can't wait for one of the most wonderful stories I've ever read.
He is so engaging in his interview, what a gem of a man / actor. Genuine, refined, humorous, beautiful...yea I go in line with the consensus...like an angel. No man / no actor this magnetic in his draw.
This is the most adorable man I have ever seen...Omg.. He's so soft spoken and sweet.. Did that woman even pronounce his name correctly ? She claims to have interviewed him before yet she didn't even know the pronunciation of his name. Btw Love his accent. I sometimes can't understand what he's saying on Outlander because of the thickness of the highlander accent. Nevertheless..Wonderful actor so believeable in the role.. My prediction is he's the next big superstar.
the future super star is lost in the proposed roles, does not know the script very well and tries to play furiously loud and emotionally ... she certainly won't play everyone with a soft voice ... and she doesn't know at all if it's true or fake news!and I often don't know what Outlander” is about”
and generally judging by the costumes that the future star wears for her roles, you can see how to pronounce her / his name well, I think ... Bafta 2013!
"Super star" will definitely not decide to play this role, there will be no movie with her, there will be no Outlander 6 ... cutscene or long movie !!!!!!!!! Ultimately! I am asking the directors not to persuade me to take on such roles ... only in my personal life
I think he was an excellent choice for Jamie, and I'm so glad that the books are going to get even more well-deserved recognition as a result of this show! Fan since high school, back in the 90s!
Mr. Heughan is very patient and humble with interviewers who supposedly have interviewed him before but still pronounce his name incorrectly. An informed, imaginative interviewer would be a nice change of pace.
He such a gentleman and he speak so intelligently with a lot of wit. I can't believe the interviewer made that comment about how he is becoming a man since she last saw him??? His comeback was so funny!!!
What a sweetie. Can't wait to see him be Jamie. Looking at older pix of him I can see why people weren't happy with Sam being chose, but now, for me, there's no doubt that he is Jamie Fraser.
What a great and humble human being Sam is! I am honored to be a fan and awed by his talant. An all around fantastic human being. I'll be watching him win alot of awards next year and for years to come!
Very awkward at some points, I believe this is one of the worst interviewer I've heard, and also when he was talking about the Kilt, the camera just stays focused on him instead of panning below to where he was showing the garment. I think he was a bit annoyed with her!
The years have never spoilt this adorable young man, he is as genuine a gentleman now as he has always been, kind hearted with a generous soul, always pleasant and loyal to his friends and numerous ‘Outlander’ fans, Sam’s role as ‘Jamie Fraser’ an 18th. century wanted Scottish highlander with a price on his head and the other half of a special deep and abiding love 💕 for a mythical time traveling modern lady of breeding ‘Claire Randal’ portrayed magnificently by Caitriona Balfe makes a beautiful and heartwarming story of a love beyond compare, these two ‘Phenomenal’ actors will bide in our hearts forever thanks to a genius with a fabulous imagination, ‘Diana Gabaldon’ without her there would be no “Outlander” 💘💞❣️
@@GalwayGirl1 I thought you would enjoy this interview, I spoke from both our hearts 🥰 as we usually agree on most things concerning ‘Outlander’ and the Fraser Clan! especially Jamie/Sam and Claire/Caitriona both fabulous actors! be in touch, 🥰🤗👋
@@deliastefanescu1908 I wouldn’t know not having read the books, but I can’t imagine anyone other than Sam Heughan in the roll of Jamie Fraser! He’s such a phenomenal actor!
You always have a way with words. But accuracy is one of your strong points and grace to the subject of the matter here. Hope he succeed s in spite of the trials taking place globally..... ..
Surely there are better interviewers than this lady. This lady has known him 10 years and doesn't know he doesn't have a hard g sound in the middle of his last name?! Also, the man comment? ...and the kilt question.
Hi Bree. I'm a native Scot, language enthusiast and Doric speaker. You are absolutely right that the interviewer mispronounced his surname. However, for the avoidance of doubt, the gh sound in Sam Heughan's name is a "voiceless velar fricative" similar to the sound of the ch in loch or Bach. This is a very common sound in the Scottish languages (eg. Doric, Scots, and Gaelic). The sound is almost never used in English, with the possible exception of the Liverpudlian accent. As a result he has dropped the voiceless velar fricative because most "English" speakers find it too difficult to produce the sound. Check how he pronounces it in this video... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UnHahznt5xI.html
Even if 10 years passed Sam is even more gorgeous than in 2013. Then the youth was dominant along with his personal charm. Now maturity left its print on his look and character in the best sense of the word. His charm has increased and expanded with every movie...I like him anyway and I'm sure I'll love him even in 2043( when probably married !) ...He's , in a way, immortal for all of us who love him endlessly and unconditionally ( meaning with or without long curly hair or with or without a bear, with or without a wife ..)..That's the problem : when our beloved star is getting ....different and inevitably one day he vanishes, those who 've been following and loving him , can hardly bear the moment.........
What a great and humble human being Sam is! I am honored to be a fan and awed by his talant. An all around fantastic human being. I'll be watching him win alot of awards next year and for years to come!
“We go back” and even this Scottish lady doesn’t know how to pronounce his Scottish last name!!! Come on, girl! Also, Sam...go ahead and tell her how it’s pronounced!!!
I do not like her writing style first book I. Could not read with pleasure I was not even half way through when I put it away and no one dictates me what to read a fan told me ones that I had to respect her because she did a lot of research great but she wanted to write the book not me. I do not care for her. she has a body language that rubs me the wrong way it is her 1st novell and of course you through in a lot of sex it will sell
So cute....just a regular guy. I can't imagine how hard it would be with people constantly throwing themselves at you to maintainthat all these yearslater!! What a strange profession! Lol Sam and Caitriona seem to handle it well.
Great to finally see him talking about Jamie Fraser, he looks dashing with the red hair and his eyes are so unbelievably intense :) Not to forget the incredible charm he exudes. He's going to be great as Jamie Fraser, I have no doubt whatsoever :) Thanks SDR for the interview!
HE COULD BE 007 JAMES BOND,...BUT MUST HIMSELF NO TO BE CONNERY, BROSNAN OR CRAIG. YES I AGREE 👍 💯 HE MUST BE !☺ BOND ...SAM...BOND. SALUDITOS DANIEL ☺ ELSANTOUY.
En la foto que sale con Cat que ella lleva vestido con tirantes se le aprecia en el dedo de la mano izquierda un anillo ( alianza) a Sam cuando las otros anillos los lleva en la mano derecha muy segnificativo se olvido quitarselo?
Wow forgive my noobness but I thought his real accent was like the one in the series! I love that accent. Do many Highlanders have the accent he has in the series? Sorry but I'm not a native English speaker.
OK, so I have no clue where I got the idea that the highland accent was old fashioned, so I'm taking that back. I thought it was in an article I read but I couldn't find it again. What I did find was an EW article where Sam explains that HIS real accent is, "sort of an Edinburgh sort of soft southwest Scottish accent. It could almost be English." And in case gpippind is interested, it turns out James McAvoy, Billy Connolly, and Billy Boyd is all from Glasgow, which is why they have the same accent as each other. But Glasgow is geographically kinda of opposite from Edinburgh but close to the SW region of Scotland, so it doesn't count as a Highlander accent as the "highlands are in the northern regions of Scotland. So, still don't know if the 18th century highland accents in Outlander sound anything like a modern Highland accent, but, you know, yay research and social studies?!
Oh! Graham McTavish is from Glasgow! and his real accent sound like his accent on Outlander. Maybe all the the 8th century highlanders resettled in Glasgow after Culloden and that's why it sounds right.
poppyseed1987 You know I was thinking maybe it's because they're supposed to be talking Scottish Gaelic in the series. Like, if they speak Gaelic most of the time AND they are from the Highlands their accent sounds much different.
