I am hugely honoured to have received the Scottish Canoe Association “Community Engagement Award”. It means an incredible amount to have been nominated and recognised by my paddling peers in Scotland. I was privileged to have had the opportunity to kayak for a full year around Scotland and it was easy to share a simple and powerful message about mental health awareness and suicide prevention.
This is the film of my acceptance ‘speech’ for the award ceremony.
Thank you Canoe Scotland and all your staff and volunteers who do incredibly important work with all sectors of Scotland’s society.

Well done Nick, been following your trip around Scotland, much of it I've walked. Very inspiring, I'm new to sea Kayaking, don't drive so have a Trak SOF kayak, which I take on public transport, did Loch Shiel as first camping trip in August. You have been in some pretty choppy seas ! Keep enjoying your travels, all the best. ( Fro NE Scotland )

Congratulations Nick and so well deserved. Loved following your journey and love watching your vlogs. They say ‘don’t fear fear….. think you’ve done that in more than one way. You’re a true inspiration to many and for me to get into a kayak at 59 albeit on quiet and sedate rivers but looking forward to warmer weather to get back out. Take care. 🙏

A very well deserved Award, Even though I am new to your Channel I have enjoyed the videos that you have made, that show what you can do, and what you can see whilst being surrounded by our stunning Natural World that we are lucky to have here in the UK. Your Journey around Scotland is very inspiring and shows that if you push yourself you can do anything. A truly Epic trip that we have only see a small snippet of from the videos you have shared with us. What part of Mull are you paddling in this video as I was trying to work it out? I makes me wish I was back on Mull exploring the coastline. I will just have to wait till next year.

@@NickRayLifeAfloat I thought I might have been that part of the coast. As you can walk on a track from Lock Buie, not sure if you can walk to Carsaig as we never walked that far with the kids when we camped at Lock Buie before they changed the Old Post Office to the Cafe, and made it so you could drive down to the camping spot. I love the old Shop with its honesty box and local produce and craft items.
