Was there that day with my dad, a lifelong Hibee, and he was just speechless with tears in his eyes. He passed away in October 2018 but he got to see his team lift the Scottish Cup
I'm a West Ham supporter. I don't take any notice of Scottish football. I have no Scottish team. But everything it means to be a football supporter is in that video. That is the absolute bollocks. 👍
There no moments like this in English football anymore because it’s a tourist league. Not many tourists in that video. Just passionate people there supporting their club. Scottish football is up there with the most fanatical support in the world!
For those people who keep going on about “You never walk alone” being unrivalled as the greatest terrace anthem, shut up and listen to this!! No comparison. This is definitely number one by a country mile ❤️❤️
YNWA miles better it's about walking on through adversity and been sung on the kop since the 60s and ties in so well with sport and life in general its become the most well known of all anthems. This sounds like a song randomly picked by fans to imitate YNWA similar to what man city fans done with blue moon.
@@cmg1819 That’s typical of the bullshit we expect to hear from a fan with Rose tinted glasses and a club that has through the years been an embarrassment both home and abroad. No club has attempted to imitate your song which only yours by right that it is a song by a Scouse group in the same way that this one is a song by a couple of guys who are actually fans and part owners of the club which makes it far more relative. Randomly picked my arse. City’s Blue Moon has been around for decades. Don’t debate from a position of stupidity.
@@cmg1819 ,"as long as I'm worth my room on this earth i will be with you" Hibs last won a trophy in 1952, never won the top league, been in 9 previous cup finals and never won it, so it's about standing by your club . "While the chief puts sunshine on Leith" Leith is an area of Edinburgh funnily enough the same area Hibs are based in. So not really some random song, unlike you'll never get a job. The only decent version of that is the Celtic one.
My dad and his family were from Leith, he always talked of the Hibees sadly he passed away a few weeks before this amazing day, im a Crystal Palace fan and my heart was broken as we lost in the FA Cup Final the same day, but hearing the Hibee fans sing this on the radio on my way home i had to pull my car over as i was in tears, still in tears watching this now, total respect for you Hibees, im hoping to make my yearly pilgrimage to Easter Road in March ...
Sad story I hope one day Palace finally win that FA Cup for you - look at what Leicester did this season. Palace deserve a win worst of all u lost two close finals/replays to the Scum. Don’t care who wins so long as not Manupool whom I despise.
Im a celtic man but think this is the best football anthem going, all the best Hibs and thank you for that amazing day two years ago.. what a game of football and what a result!
As a Celtic fan I must admit I've watched this a hundred times and I'll watch it a hundred times more, so much passion and happiness, keep the faith hibees the day will come again
I'm a Bluenose but, what a wonderful football anthem, great day for the Hibees & thoroughly deserved too. Absolutely wonderful rendition from the fans, that will take some beating. Well done Hibernian FC.
You're a Bluenose?? Lol, How many Hibs fans post comments like yours on Rangers fans singing and/or celebrating? I'll save you searching....the answer is NIL.
Am a die hard Charlton Athletic fan but this is the best football club song ever makes me cry every time.Maybe I’ll go up there for game one day just to sing along. Well done Hibs
Everton fan of 50 years, been everywhere, heard some awesome crowd singing on the way, but NOTHING tops this, keep coming back to it. Respect to Hibernian & The Proclaimers!
I was lucky to be there because my Scottish friends Billy, Jack and John made it possible for my friend Chris and me to be part of this awesome afternoon at Hampden. We're Germans supporting our teams from Leverkusen and Dusseldorf but we'll never forget THAT SPECIAL AFTERNOON in Glasgow in May 2016. Glory to the Hibees!!!
I'm italian, and an Inter supporter, but i like Hibernian, and the day of that hisotrical final was my birthday. This video is amazing. Sunshine on Leith is more than a song, it's an anthem for every Hibs fan. A lot of passion and love for the club.
@@bonzobanzi1137 let's be real here, they piss on Liverpool for a sing off. Us at celtic sing never walk alone better than Liverpool. There's just something special up here that isn't down south. And it's not the TV money lol
I'm not Scottish but my heart is, i lived there for awhile and I saw beauty, guts, soul, spirit, heart n warmth in nearly everyone I came across. This song stirs the heart so so much and watching and listening to this always brings me to tears, what fabulous people, what a fabulous country!
What impresses me most about this is that all of the players are joining in. Too many clubs have players from the four corners of the world who are out of touch with the fans. Obviously not true for the Hibees
John Joyce Aye it's brilliant. Only 3 players on that day weren't British. Stokes Irish Logan Irish and Gunnarsson was Norwegian . Best day of my life as a Hibs fan
A Dutch football fan (PSV Eindhoven) stumbled onto this video and never left. Looked up the meaning of the song Sunshine over Leith, amazing song and amazing crowd. This is what football anthems are all about. Thank you for this.
Im not a Hibs fan... but thats one of the most wonderful things ive ever seen... such an amazing outpouring of emotion and a fantastic tune being sung so passionately by thousands of fans.. .. I could watch this over and over..Massive Respect to Hibs and their fans.. This is why we love football.... so Hibbies big congratulations and Thank you,Thank you ,Thank you for these beautiful moments
I aren't a Hibees fan. It's pretty irrelevant who I support (Stoke and a huge soft spot for Celtic as I have Irish family) but this is hands down the greatest football anthem. How can anyone argue. If you watch this and don't have a tear in your eye by the end you aren't human. After 114 years what a moment. And to have slayed the filth to have got there. Truly an amazing, special moment. Will always respect Hibernian. 🇮🇪 My heart was broken...
I have to say this is the first time I have seen this. I'm a Manchester City Fan of 55 years. It's great to see just about every Hibs fans singing this great song. Very Touching brought tears to my eyes.
I live south of the border and have little interest in Scottish football, but i still have this saved on the Sky planner just for this 4 minutes of bliss. lump in throat every time.
Lost my Dad in October, 2020, he was not a Hibs fan. In truth he was not a football fan at all. However, when he was dying I thought of all the joy he gave me, his friends, and his family, even through all the pain, and I was happy just that he and I lived. I was happy because of what this song means. A day in the sun is all that we need, Hibs had it that day; be grateful for that light.
Derby County Fan. Has to go down as the most spine chilling moment at a football ground ever.. Watched this loads of times. To think the Proclaimers happened to have written the perfect song in the era when Hibs would win the cup after 114 year wait and 10 previous fails as losing finalists makes it all the more poignant. The perfect game taking the lead, going 2 - 1 down and rallying to get the late winner. Goosebumps stuff. The sun shone on the crowd too. Just perfect. Does make me smile though. All the rivalry with the 'Us English' and the people of your great nation end up fighting with each other. Who is the enemy anyway? Time to put all that division to bed, unite and embrace the humanity of this joyous experience. I bet the Rangers fans who have seen this since, wish they'd have stuck around and joined in the incredible wall of sound.
I watch this all the time and it always gets me - it's almost as if the Proclaimers knew Hibs would win the cup eventually and wrote this song just for this one perfect never to be forgotten rendition. Best anthem ever, maybe I'll get to Easter Rd one day and join in just once if I'm lucky - respect from Bolton GGTTH!!!
Brilliant anthem mate....but being a LIVERPOOL fan...I have to differ. After we beat Barcelona 4-0 in the semi-final......YNWA was sung with just as much passion as this great song. Even our players joined in at the Kop end. BRILLIANT!!!!!! scenes.
Can't even recall how many times I've ended up on this video, celtic man through and through, but the happiness knowing that will actually be the best days off some peoples lives is unreal, I know watching Celtic win the double table was the best off mine, fair play hibees
cant think of a better celebration and atmosphere at hampden, this was amazing well done the hibs, you waited a long time and made it worth while whens yous won it, touches me every time and brings a tear to my eye, respect and well done
Travelled up from Manchester for the weekend & game & its the best weekend av ever had in my life as a life long Hibby(46yrs).What made the win even sweeter was it was against they Huns Scum.HFCTID #1
Remember watching this last year, absolutely boss that I let out a little tear watching this. You sang that with a passion well truly deserved. Respect from LFC.
Respect from down south, across the border. This is what all football fans should have a look at. Very very impressive. The words "Wow" and "Unbelievable" used in the commentary at the end sums up quite admirably.
I’m a massive jambo but this is a great anthem something the Hibees should be proud of. To be honest deserve this after the amount of hidings at hampden yous have took. Fair play 👏🏻
Poetry in motion, it gives me goosebumps everytime I watch it. Hibs got a fan outside Scotland here. Respect from Brazil and from a São Paulo FC supporter!
just incredible, every club and fan should watch and try to understand what real football means...message to sky ...watch and learn,it is not all about the big clubs...pompey steve
My only son Ryan low says this was among the best days of his life this day and the day his nephew jaxon was born, Ryan was tragically taking from us on 25=06=2020 so it's only fair I play this song at my gorgeous brown eyed boy(Ryan lows) funeral, he came home that day with tears of joy rip ma boy 17=11=1987to25=06=2020 gbnbf fly high with the angels Ryan ggtth 💚💚💚💚💚
Keep going back to this.from a qpr/Celtic fan who has always had the hibs in the heart from family this absolutely slaughters me every time.GOD bless you all from a tipp man who can't get enough of yea .The grandest fans I've ever seen
As an Everton fan, I watch this all the time. It reminds of of why I started being a Blue. The total fervour, the joy, the moment x Who knows ? Maybe EFC this year again ? In the meantime I wish all you Hibees the biggest love from Everton FC x ...
Simply the greatest football song ever. And this was possibly the most emotional rendition I've ever heard. If you don't get goosebumps or tears whatsoever watching this you are not normal.
English lad who lived in 6 years in Piersill, watching this give me goosebumps, best ever rendition of the song sang with such passion after waiting so long to win the trophy. Only Palace winning promotion at Wembley in 97 can match it for me when the entire section of Palace fans done the same as the Hibees and sang their hearts to Glad all over out at the end of the match. i remember watching that game at the time,i think it was bbc cut short the celebrating hibs fans and that song, fucking disgrace then blame hibs fans for rioting, only in scotland ,national fuckin disgrace
Must have listened to this about a dozen times by now, simply amazing!! This is what football is all about. Any football fan, no matter who your support, you can appreciate this.
As a Arab united living in Aberdeen respect too hibs and may sunshine on Leith many times in future proud scotsman of our fantastic Capitol city respect pure Scotland
What a tremendous display of respect , behaviour, from the "football " supporters. I don't follow Football but this was sincere without having a go at any other TEAM??? WELL DONE HIBS SUPPORTERS👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Alan Parris Just a heads up for you mate. We only usually sing it when we win important matches. Derbies, semis and finals. It's not belted out at every home game. It would lose its meaning to our suppport. Special occasions only.
