In August 1989, Cumbernauld airport held an Airshow to celebrate the opening of their new facility. Despite the short runway, British European Airways flew their 748 in to provide a static display before returning to Glasgow the following day. Possibly the largest aircraft ever to land at Cumbernauld airport to date.
On returning to Glasgow airport the camera spots a B17 'Kathleen' that was returning to USA following filming for the Memphis Belle movie.

Flew from Bournemouth to Guernsey in one of these operated by Dan Air , 1986. I was 16 and going on hols with my Mum. It was an evening flight, as we approached Guernsey there was a terrible storm and it became quite dark. The plane was being buffed and it was frankly terrifying. We were seated port side, the plane did steep left bank at around 1000 feet and out of the window , through the storm I could see the blazing runway lights at Guernsey. We landed safely and I waited for everyone to leave the plane. The Captain came down the aisle and he was very confident, around 60, and completely unfazed by the tricky landing. I stopped him and asked, can I take a picture of the cockpit ? He smile at me and said, "help yourself" . I went to the cockpit and was left alone in there 😁😅, wouldn't happen now.

What a lovely surprise to find this video. Took me straight back to my time as a brand new FO with SEA flying FU and also DA. Anybody else around from those times?
