Hahaha! Thanks. I use it once a week for about a month in the fall. The bin fills up quickly and I go to my compost pile a lot. Easy and I get some walking exercise!
I like an approach that gets all the leaves. I bought one a couple weeks ago and it sucks for small leaves also. Many remain on the lawn just like in your video. Some are thrown right past the catcher. Some leaves are totally ignored. I'm most likely going to return it and continue using my gas mower.
Thanks for the comment. You are right, it does not gather all the leaves, so if you are getting frustrated by it, return it. I try to use this once a week to clear some/most of the leaves before I mow. But I mow using a push reel mower, so I need to do it this way or rake it. Your gas mower can mulch, I assume, so that may be a good option for you.
Thanks, I have a tree that lets off a lot of beech nuts which would end up being like little leaves but worse. It's a real hassle to rake up but given how this struggles with smaller objects I don't think it'd do the job. If it was cheaper I'd probably get it to help with normal leaf pick up because it looks easier on the back but as others have noted it's over $150 right now. Will look out for yard sales lol
Agreed. I have a maple tree and so far the EGO leaf blower is the answer. I can make piles and move the whole pile by blowing air at the bottom and it curls under and moves the pile forwards. I use a snow shovel to get a scoop and when you turn the shovel sideways, it acts like a slide and funnels everything into a bag easily.. Sometimes, I just blow everything onto the driveway and against a fence to easily pick the leaves up with the snow shovel. BTW being Canadian I'm not talking about those cheap kid snow shovels, I'm talkig about the ones that are 24" to 26" wide.
I have had one for about 2 years. Broke the plastic parts on the bag almost immediately. Broke the replacements as well. Ended up modifying with plumbing parts . Still not right but it works. Gears in the wheels are wearing at this point. I wish it was made to actually last like the one I had when I was a kid. It’s a shame that they make it to self destruct out of materials meant to fail. Looking for a new one from someone else.
I use a Makita 36 volt leaf blower and an Echo gas leaf vacuum which grinds the leaves. Then I dump the leaf blower bag into the green compost bin for the municipality to pick up. manual reel mowers don't cut weeds. I have a Toro "Personal Pace" battery mower. It works great.
I had a Toro Personal Pace mower which I traded in for my first battery lawnmower. I hated the Toro because the engine had to run at it's maximum speed for the personal pace feature to propel the mower. I also had to take the mower in for service at least twice , as the personal pace feature kept breaking. Hearing protection was a *must* when using the thing.
If you have a leaf blower, preferably battery powered,it would be better to blow leaves onto the nearest lawn, and then use the Scotts Lawn Sweeper to remove them from the lawn. In my experience,my sweeper picks up leaves better off grass than concrete.
Thanks for watching! Like I said, I have a DIY approach to my lawn and I enjoy using this Scotts Lawn Sweeper. Do you have any unique ways to collect leaves in your lawn? Please share any friendly tips in the comments below. I'd love to hear from you.
Does this work to pick up sticks? How do you pick up sticks? My yard has some big trees that drop a lot of sticks, and it's the worst part of using my reel mower.
It can pick up small twigs. For my modest lawn I can handpick large sticks or rake them off the lawn and then I keep them for kindling for the fireplace.
@@kaycoffman5798 I don't know, sorry. I don't have a mulching mower. My guess is no, as the pieces may be too small. If you have mulched the leaves with a mower, I believe you can leave the mulched leaves on the ground as they are small pieces.
Thanks for your comment. It is made of plastic mostly, though the handles are metal. I agree it is expensive, and perhaps there are cheaper options out there. What I like about this is that it is quicker for clearing leaves than raking them manually and picking them up. If you find other good ideas on how to clear leaves off your lawn, please share any friendly tips. Thanks!
