Almost everyone on kayaks who use a downrigger use Scotty as it’s cheap and simple. As a help to newer kayak angler here is my two cents on downrigger.
You’re Welcome! If you do decide to buy the Scotty downrigger I think it comes with that bulky triangle mount, it would but it’s a direct bolt on so if you car top or flip your kayak upside down that mount will be hitting all the time. The Scotty Gear-Head Track Adapter works so much easier like in the video. Happy to help and have fun rigging your kayak.
Yeah the braided line cuts the drag and noise down while keeping the line straighter with lighter weighted balls. I remembered trolling for salmon at bodega bay and the original cable had about 100ft-125ft or something like that and the salmon were at 160ft so I couldn’t reach the salmon and if I snagged during a high swells it’s games over. 100lbs+ braided line can be cut with a knife or the cutting part of a pliers.
@@AaronSprague1 that’s good to hear and glad this video is helping out. I think it’s nice to share ideas with others and what works or don’t work or more effective. Time to put on some fish!!
This is why I like RU-vid, getting good advice and knowledge from others. I swear I have gotten more great information from viewers than other places. Thanks! I really do like the double locking method. Thank You!
