How about making illegal for anyone or their emmediate family members to financially invest in stocks of companies or industries where they are making policy and law decisions?? These politicians and their family's that have Backstage insight into future policy and law, should be exempt from investing in these markets all together. It's called insider trader... in sports Pete Rose was punished for betting on baseball.

No Pete was penalized for not paying taxes on money he was profiting off of betting, which is typically what the Federal government goes after. Pete was keeping it on the down low, not to cheat the IRS, but to avoid the obvious scrutiny over possible conflict of interest. It wasn’t until he was held responsible for tax evasion that Pete was denied entry to the baseball HoF!

@@johnlafever3162 Wrong! He may have been financially penalized and served time for tax evasion but he was barred from HOF and kicked out of baseball for gambling repeatedly on baseball and his own team. It is illegal to bet against yourself in organized sports in which you participate. Betting against one's self in professional sports as a player is a criminal offense that is very unsportsmanlike, as it violates the sport's rules of sportsmanship and participant's conduct.

@@theresaquidi you are just making stuff up to fit your own feelings. I acknowledged the league took disciplinary action against Rose, but that was within the ethics rules of the game, not criminal violations. It’s not “illegal” to bet on games you are involved in. It’s “illegal” to “fix” games you are involved in! Betting on games gives a person a clear conflict of interest and a public perception that the game can not be trusted. And not only did Rose deny ever betting on any games he ever was personally involved in, but they never formally accused him of it or provided any proof to that extent!

This is more about skimming funds from the campaign... think interest rates. Funds which are put there by donators who know you are skimming, because your doing it openly via a loan. Sometimes the system makes Bribery illegal, but nothing illegal on taking interest rate payments.

Wonder what the rates on a loan to a campaign actually are.... Got a bit curious and it seems they are in the double Digits! Rep. Grace F. Napolitano loaned her campaign $150,000 at 18%, lowered later to 10. When she was investigated the FEC found it to be a “commercially reasonable rate” and thus no violation of law occurred here. Since 2001, this one loan has earned her more then $150,000 and the principal of the loan is still around $100,000 to still be paid off. This is just a single news paper account of a single politician doing this... skimming from her political campaigns! And now the cap has been lifted, how much will she loan herself next I wonder?!

I just can't understand why this is a bad thing and I don't even support the guy... Like let's say he donates 1 million to his campaign and a big company donates 1 million as well. He has 2 millions for his campaign. If he spend 1.5 million for his campaign then he gets $500k back because he didn't have enough left over. If he gets more money donated later on then he gets the rest back. At the end of the day he still has the same amounts of money as he did when he started. How could that be interpreted as a bribe? Can anyone explain?

@johnanders4729 Год назад
Your missing a few parts here. This was a loan with a set range of interest, cap, and a two year time limit to pay back. Now there is no cap on amount, interest, or time. The idea behind it was the there should be a limit on the amount of money a candidate can make off donations.
@albertopalma1663
@albertopalma1663 Год назад
You're putting here something hypothetical. "If" he donates to "his" campaign... He can have his own money back, but the thing here is about money from donors and the 250K cap is lifted. "His donors know he will be very grateful..." 1st: is he going to donate to his own campaign? I don't think so. Donors will be knocking on his door and he will be grateful.

Not me 1) Rich people shouldn't be able to simply buy a seat. No cap on repayment means no cap on using personal funds, means no poor people in power, only millionaires who'll hep millionaires meaning a perpetual cycle of corruption and not a gvmt "of" the people, but a plutocracy. 2) There are strict rules on how one can spend campaign funds. This allows one to take any leftovers and put in their own pockets, meaning not only corruption of politicians existing while in office, but now corruption for all candidates just for running.

Always keep in mind the dirty, dirty, things you can do with Loans. No one should be able to turn a profit by owing money to people, but... there are many ways. This judge just opened yet another loopholes to exploit, making those tricks you can do with loans all the more easier for politicians to pull off. Just so you know: Most of these loan exploits need a secondary 'money like system' to work, one with real value such as stocks. Now I can see at least one way for a Politician to use the most popular of these loan exploits, just... with refundable donations instead of stocks as the collateral. In short, by manipulating the rates of the loans they can get everything back, and then a sizable chunk extra on top of it... Yes, you can profit by just taking out a loan... if you have the right collateral. That... is pretty nasty when I think about it: Loan your Campaign money, at high interest and knowing it will be paid off soon as the donations come in. Then use that Loan as even more Collateral to further promote other financial interests, seeing it is a pretty solid loan. It is all political too, so there has to be tax exceptions already built in so you wouldn't need the usual third step to avoid taxes... they could make money three ways with this ruling!

@@lostbutfreesoul If i should have the help of friends and family who lend me the funds to start my own far,, and it prospers and i profit, this is not wrong, as i intend of course to see these investors are paid back, and a bonus should it be so profitable. When someone should not turn a profit from such a thing is when a sale is not intended. The presidency of the United States is not some sort of award where the winner can sit back and rake in wealth, it is an administrative job that requires wisdom and trust, to a level that transcends the questions of "how much profit is there in it?" It is arrogant for anyone to make a profit when gathering money together in an effort to get ones' self elected into an office, that was never an office intended to make someone rich. If I gather money together and buy a street sweeper and clean the streets for free asking not a cent i still owe those who would lend to me, even if their hearts say otherwise by my deeds, for this is the reality of the situation and where all are so lost in the blood of the world, the heart matters, this money has no value no life and is ultimately unimportant.

Right. Because it does pay. How do you think Biden was able to afford a $2 million dollar mortgage in 1996 when rates were about 7%? He bought a 3 acre piece of land in an affluent Delaware suburb and built a main home and a guest host. All this after he and his wife had just finished putting Hunter through 4 years of Georgetown and three years of Yale Law. That's quite a bit for a humble US Senator who earned $133,600 plus a $10,000 stipend and his wife worked as a community college professor. Neither came from wealth and neither inherited any wealth that would cover a piece of property like this. Did he get into Nike in 1980 and Disney in 1980 and strike it rich? I think we would've heard something about that one.

(41-19l} And (make mention of) the day when the enemies of Allah are gathered unto the Fire, they are driven on [41:20] Till, when they reach it, their ears and their eyes and their skins testify against them as to what they used to do. [41:21] And they say unto their skins: Why testify ye against us ? They say: Allah hath given us speech Who giveth speech to all things, and Who created you at the first, and unto Whom ye are returned. [41:22] Ye did not hide yourselves lest your ears and your eyes and your skins should testify against you, but ye deemed that Allah knew not much of what ye did. [41:23] That, your thought which ye did think about your Lord, hath ruined you; and ye find yourselves (this day) among the lost. [41:24] And though they are resigned, yet the Fire is still their home; and if they ask for favour, yet they are not of those unto whom favour can be shown. [41:25] And We assigned them comrades (in the world), who made their present and their past fairseeming unto them. And the Word concerning nations of the jinn and humankind who passed away before them hath effect for them. Lo! they were ever losers. [41:26] Those who disbelieve say: Heed not this Qur’an, and drown the hearing of it; haply ye may conquer. [41:27] But verily We shall cause those who disbelieve to taste an awful doom, and verily We shall requite them the worst of what they used to do. [41:28] That is the reward of Allah’s enemies: the Fire. Therein is their immortal home, payment forasmuch as they denied Our revelations. [41:29] And those who disbelieve will say: Our Lord! Show us those who beguiled us of the jinn and humankind. We will place them underneath our feet that they may be among the nethermost. [41:30] Lo! those who say: Our Lord is Allah, and afterward are upright, the angels descend upon them, saying: Fear not nor grieve, but hear good tidings of the paradise which ye are promised. [41:31] We are your protecting friends in the life of the world and in the Hereafter. There ye will have (all) that your souls desire, and there ye will have (all) for which ye pray. [41:32] A gift of welcome from One Forgiving, Merciful. [41:33] And who is better in speech than him who prayeth unto his Lord and doeth right, and saith: Lo! I am of those who are muslims (surrender unto Him). [41:34] The good deed and the evil deed are not alike. Repel the evil deed with one which is better, then lo! he, between whom and thee there was enmity (will become) as though he was a bosom friend. [41:35] But none is granted it save those who are steadfast, and none is granted it save the owner of great happiness. ،

Not so odd since that has been the plan of the Republikkkans, to have a SC with judges of its own party. That was one of the Machiavellian plans of tRump. Remember when Obama wanted to nominate a judge during his last year? Lying Ted CanCruz cried out loud: "No nominees for the SC in election year". When was Amy Coney Barrett nominated? There you have it. The Republican party is bringing the country down and Moscow McConnell and Lying Ted are the political perpetrators of this. What's odd is, W, the war president sent US soldier to die fighting the taliban in Afghanistan while the American taliban, as you say, are here dismembering the country. Wake up America. Wake up before it's too late!

it says that ted Cruz's case changed the status quo a candidate used to be able to donate millions to their campaign and would receive it all back, now because of the courts ruling your return on any investment into your own campaign can not exceed 250,000 dollars even if you donate 2 million to your campaign. I don't understand how people think this is bad
