Thanks for posting this, really helpful. So to be clear you use Gasket in a can on both sides as well as the rubber gasket? Any tips how to not get dirt/etc. into the engine when sanding/polishing away old sealant?

Use a shop vac right next to the cookie to suck the crud up, or wrap the engine in towels like i did. I usually weigh them down or can tape, or bungee them in place too. Masking tape is the best of the best way though. Use the wide 3" stuff from auto body supply store. You can use all tape or get some brown masking paper to fill in the center areas and only use tape around the edge.

Kind of glad mine was leaking oil everywhere. The only place mine hasn’t rusted away is where the oil leaked and blew under the body

I have a question if you can help my left side rocker have play in between side to side it same style rocker arms as yours an makes a ticking noise I pulled off the valve cover an noticed side to side playbetween the rocker I'm new to this engine any help will be appreciated thanks
